Posts: 525Why do you assume that panic will arrive here in a week or two? Seems like you're being deliberately alarmist. There are only 23 cases in Colombia and 0 deaths today, from a population of 49 million! New holidaymakers aren't going to bother coming at the moment, and they've introduced stricter entry controls on peoples health, so why are you assuming there will be panic here ?

Personally I prefer to wait out the virus here in lovely Colombia with all it's benefits, than rush back to where I live, where I have a much higher chance of catching the virus, where all restaurants and bars have been closed for 3 weeks from today, and where the media and everyone else seems to be panicking! Here where I am nobody seems very interested and hardly anybody is wearing a face mask. So stop the Corona virus panic hype please!

Posts: 166I also get good speeds tethering, but I think videos will kill my data plan pretty quickly. I am buying the largest data plan I found: 2 Gb /15 days on Claro. Does Claro have a plan with more data?

Posts: 109I don't think people mind the long details and I personally enjoy the stories. I think what folks don't like is when there is a super long "report" that has no mention of anything helpful. It's just basically someone discussing what they did all day. No mention of places to visit or things to do. No mention or where not to go or prices of the chicas / contact info. I am at the point now where I can head out there and figure things out for myself. I have made some friends out there that can also help when I have a question so to me it does not matter. I do think the going back and forth on the same topic should be in the general info thread. Some guys get it and its much appreciated!

I'd definitely hop on the Medellin Guru website and their Facebook page. They have a ton of information regarding places to stay and price comparisons. VISA requirements, Metro info, gun laws, etc. The folks over there are well versed in this kind of stuff.

I thought these Airbnb weren't good because they don't allow girls. BTW, you guys misunderstood. I'm not looking for bare bones place where the girls run out of there when they see it (hostels, no furniture, no hot water). How much should I expect to pay in the centro area for a apartment, with what you would expect at home? If you're not saving that much based on those requirements, what's the best 25.00 a night hotel in Centro that is girl friendly.
I appreciate the answer that I don't have to stay near Poblado. I thought that was a necessity. I've been to Medellin before but I stayed at the mansion which spoiled me I guess. If I get a hotel in centro will I be living like a king. Will the girls want to stay longer because it's a hotel.

Posts: 1173I want a apartment with hot water and furniture. How much would I pay for a normal studio with all creature comforts. Also if not Poblado where would you stay that's a good value. No way I'm bringing girls to a hostel. I didn't say it had to be 100 a month. Can I get something nice for 300 dollars. Also what does no home game mean.

I'm staying in parque Lleras and I noticed some of the casas are like 20-30 minutes away. Can I still find a girl in that area across from gustos during the day or are the casas my best bet for day game preferable something close.

Posts: 3802To Stay Or Not To Stay- I'm Getting out of Here Pronto And Am Not Happy About It
Because of the Coronavirus, I'm flying out of here tomorrow while I can still get out "easily" back to California, and am not looking forward to it.

So for a guy with no ties in Medellin who is thinking of staying in Medellin which is the topic being discussed, I wouldn't recommend that he even think of coming down here.
I posted earlier on my situation a few weeks ago and got some great feedback with most saying I should stay, but given the context of what has evolved with the Coronvirus, and what could occur here, mongering could almost come to a halt, with the closing of clubs, casa's, bars, and frightened Fay Boo Chicas refusing to see foreigners.
However I see an exception to this in El Centro, since the border with Venezuela has been shut down, I envision there will still be lots of desperate Venezuelans working and perhaps Colombians as well. It if you think it's a buyers market now, it's going to be better with desperate Chicas looking for clients, and given that the USD to COP exchange rate is at over 4,000 Pesos. However this in no way is a reason to stay, at least for me.
I suspect Colombia will shut down visitors from the USA shortly, Guatemala has, and once visitors from the USA are not allowed in, there may not be many flights out of the Country, let alone to any other Country.
I know Americans living here with no ties to the USA, meaning no homes, no businesses, no close family members, or children in the USA, who are staying in Medellin.
For mongers here now, I suggest you leave ASAP, and I know a lot of you may belittle me over this, but if you look at what's happening now in the USA, it could get very ugly here and quickly, but I hope not.
During the last two days I have been in El Centro, I have been in Parque Lleras, business as usual, more and more pretty darlings in El Centro, and I am leaving due to the ties I have in the USA which makes me sad. God only knows when and if this slice of "paradise" will exist in the near future.

Posts: 4349There are plenty of hotels around Centro for US $25/ day and less. If it has to be an apartment, search airbnb and use google maps to get a feel for distances. There is lots of information on this website about airbnb apartments in Laureles. US $100/ month is going to be basic.

Posts: 170Just left yesterday. Everything seemed relatively normal, no panic there at all. Coffee shop was full and bustling. In PR, stores have been shopped bare as a comparison. Chicas are definitely aware of it and pretty freaked out about getting it. The few I talk to regularly were telling me to wear gloves and a mask when traveling home. I've heard business is down from both chicas and uber drivers. I think its just at the point where panic will start to arrive there within a week or two.

It was announced today that President Duque closed the border with Venezuela. Duque also barred entry by foreigners who have been in Asia or Europe in the past 14 days. Citizens who have been in Asia or Europe in the past 14 days will be allowed in but they are required to undergo a mandatory 14 day quarantine.
Entry from other locations is permitted but immigration requires pre-declaration of health status and travel history via its web site. I assume visitors are also allowed to declare upon arrival but of course that would involve a delay at the airport.

Posts: 590I was there through last Sunday. Obviously, things change hourly. But as of last Sunday. Everything was normal. I do not remember seeing any signage in the airport. No screening. Chicas I know were not talking about it. It was business as usual. Obviously, at that time, there were no cases in Medellin. Since then, there have been a few. Curious to see how much things have changed in the past few days, if at all.

Posts: 18170Have you checked the visa requirements first? Second, you do not even know if you will be allowed in the country in the next few days, weeks, or months with this corona thing going on.

Posts: 5607Most of the action isn't in Poblado. With the metro it really doesn't matter where you stay.

Your best bet, if you want the cheapest place to stay is to look into a dorm room in a hostel. There are plenty of hostels in Poblado and Laureles.
The bad news, no home game. The good news, I'm finding rates of $100 per month.
