Agree this is about what it is like in Gustos, but only later like after 1030 pm or so. Perhaps you can see how the lights and booze mess with your eyes and senses and make the chicas appear more attractive than the one you see in your room in the morning, 😂. It's a good place to go to just observe people. And be a touruat. But if you give that looking for something vibe you're going to get in trouble. Locals can smell it. I say that out of experience cuz I've been in some of the world situations in Haiti the Dominican republic in the other places with no problems, but looking lost in El Centro not a good idea

The area you described, lets call it the Veracruz Alley with the glass covered sidewalk and the hangout spot for the shemales is probably the very best spot to hang your hat in El Centro while Dumpster Diving. Thru this area every single hooker who works the area walks thru there either in route to the Love Motels and the bars, and lots of girls take laps walking around and thru the area to Botero and the surrounding areas so there is always a lot of foot traffic in the area. Now granted there are some very deplorable looking girls that line this passageway, but there also is a continuous steady stream of girls cruising and walking thru this area. Forgetting that this is not a safe and uplifiting environment, there are contrary to what you think soft tone / looking girly girls there, albeit they won't be dressed to the nine.

So setting aside the enviornment from which you pull a woman from, once your in a bedroom and the clothes are off, how would one know where they were found, whether it be Tinder, Fayboo, or Lleras. And let's take it a step further, imagine being with someone who doesn't negotiate about taxi money, or perhaps have a set menu or rules, and so on like those from Tinder / Fayboo. I remember encountering a candy girl in the alley, totally covered up wearing a dirty jogging outfit, no make-up, and once in the room behold a beautiful naked slim 22 year old Morena with no rules, tight and wet. So if you set aside where the girls are encountered and how they are dressed would you call someone who dumpster dives in El Centro sick, I don't think so. So, today I have been witness of two episodes en el centro. Before I have seen a group of chicas discussing. One of them was losing blood from one hand. I didn't assist at the event, so I don't know if it was a fight or something else. Police was around, but apparently no one called.

About one hour later between Veracruz Church and Plaza Botero, a man in his fifty with a backpack has been robbed of his phone by two guys. I didn't see any weapons, but the man was on the ground trying to hold his phone, but the two guys took it from him and ran away. I can't say exactly because he was wearing a mask, but considering he had a backpack, my guess is that he was a tourist. Most of the tourists I have seen had a backpack.

So, once again, if you go to El Centro, leave your phone in the hotel, and if you have it, just don't use it. And bring with you just the money you need for a couple of shots.

You probably saw a Colombian getting robbed. Lots and lots of Colombians have backpacks to carry umbrellas, jackets, and other stuff in them. If it had been a tourist, an obvious foreigner, they would of taken the backpack as well thinking that it was full of gold. I cannot linger and be comfortable in that environment. So my thoughts is how could any other person be that's not force to survive in those conditions. Wise words indeed, I too have been very lucky around Centro considering how much time I spend there. I remember the first time it became clear to me how dangerous it must really be. After having been warned, and after having spent time there for a couple of years or so, one day I was walking along Carrera 47 toward Parque de Bolívar. It was late morning so the street was still fairly deserted. A woman approaching me from the opposite direction abruptly crossed the street before continuing to walk past me on the opposite sidewalk. That is when it hit me. She was genuinely afraid to get within grabbing distance of me. Trust the locals, they know.

I've never been to Cali, but walked a lot in Medellin centro. It can be a different world one block to the next. I do know that there are places I avoid, even in the daytime, and on the other hand places I have walked at night to get back to the metro. I have my favored routes, I stay alert, and have never had a problem. But I still believe it is a dangerous area especially at night. But at least it is the type of area that can keep you alert.

Walking in Poblado, or on la setenta, or on 33rd may give you a false sense of security. You still need to be alert. I've been sized up on la setenta at least once. Guy decided it wasn't worth it, not that I'm intimidating, but combination of surroundings, I didn't look that rich perhaps, or perhaps I had a look that it would be him or me, and even though he would have the advantage it wasn't worth the chance.

Sure, do whatever you please. But some of my fellow travellers here look like ducks in a shooting gallery when I see them in centro. I just don't want that much attention.
