Don't stay at Blux if you're hoping to bring chicas to your apartment. They were guest friendly until a few months ago but not latley. Unless there's been a very recent policy change I'm unaware of yet.

I'd reccommend splitting your stay between the two "gringo areas of Laureles and Poblado" as you call them LOL. There's a reason they are the gringo areas, there are fewer poor guys around wanting to rob you.

This is good information for people to read about what has happened in the past when people resisted the robbers. I also find it interested that they say one of the murder victims was 'accused of sex tourism" as f it were illegal and as if he was going around robbing banks or something.

Thanks for sharing. Hate to say it but some of these news stories don't deserve to be taken at face value. In each case they were quick to tell you that the victim "resisted a robbery" yet both died and no eyewitnesses are named or quoted, though the New Yorker was said to have been in a taxi. The sources are "state media" and "the authorities" and there's definitely a PR advantage to laying fault on the tourist.

That said, when faced with a gun and demand for money, etc. Cooperation is the best strategy, though not foolproof when dealing with squirrelly people that are hopped up on drugs.

Took a red-eye from LAX Tuesday night with a connection in FLL and arrived mid afternoon on Wednesday and got no sleep all night. Upon arriving took a taxi to my place, checked everything out, fired up the water heater, and went to EXITO and stocked up on food stuffs. Four years ago in a walk-up in Hong Kong I was getting extremely bad service from a wg and after a few minutes decided to call it off and refused to pay her the agreed amount but a lesser amount. Heads up with registering with Migracion for entry into the Country. I just tried to register for entry into Colombia on a flight Wednesday morning from FLL to MDE on Jetblue and it didn't recognize the flight and perhaps it was because the flight number was two digits. I attempted this in English and when I tried registering in Spanish, it recognized the flight, and I was able to register and got an E mail verification. This may not be an issue for others.

Try using an X for the missing digit or some other alpha-numeric character.

If that does not work take a screenshot of the error page. I have heard of guys getting thru migracion with that.

I went to Cendiatra (https://cendiatra.com/) this morning to get the antigen test for returning to the US. I went to the clinic in Laureles, Cra 80 #44B-91, no appointment. They also have a clinic in Aguacatala (downtown), Cra 47C #105-04. The cost is 50 mil. I arrived at 8 am, and was finished at 8:20. They gave me the option to wait for the result or have it emailed. I chose email. The result was in my mailbox at 9:03 am. The swab test was more uncomfortable than what I got in Florida, but bearable. Overall, it was a good experience. They were very tolerate with my lack of Spanish.
