So this is my first time going to Medellin and my first ever mongering trip. I am 24 year old black male, and do not speak a lick of Spanish. I will be staying around Paque Lleras in an airbnb (near the Calle 10,11,9 area) so far I have been having a good amount of success on Tinder (got like 4 whatsup numbers and things already set). My major concern now is how safe is Medellin, I have been keeping up to date with the things going down in the country and this forum. Things seem to be escalating rather quickly. So if anyone has boots on the ground can they update me on if it's worth coming down next Thursday or not.

I also wanted to hit up some Casa's that were mentioned here as-well as El Centro / Ground Zero (want to get the full hunting experience LOL). While it is possible, I don't think they are set ups, I've been to many and it can feel a bit scary at times going into a random dark stairway. Many are charging as as low as 50 K and there are a couple of stunners in the mix but overall service will be hit or miss, lately I've had a good run.

They allow 900,000 pesos max withdrawal at a time, but you can do it multiple times. I think their daily limit is $2. 7 million pesos.

Your information regarding Scotiabank / Colpatria is correct, best rate and daily limit of all the other banks.

My advice is don't come for several reasons, some of which are in no way a reflection on you whatsoever so don't take some of the reasons personally.

1. The timing is not good, especially as there will most probably be a weekend lockdown. You would be better to be here during the week to get around town.

2. Right now the Citizens are in protest against the Government, there could be additional lockdowns, curfews, and roadlblocks all over the place thus hampering visitors from visiting you.

3. No Spanish speaking skills, problematic as nobody speaks or understands English, especially if your thinking of having girls come to you, along with a whole host of other issues that may arise.

4. First time mongering, this is huge, and Colombia is not user friendly nor the place, at least given the current conditions to learn about mongering, and not a reflection on you as everyone starts somewhere.

My suggestion for you would be to fly into San Diego and go to Tijuana. I remember the first time mongering I went there and got a taste for mongering there but have since graduated and moved on. You can have some nice short sessions in Zona Norte and get a feel for things, it will be safer than Colombia, and very user friendly for non-Spanish speakers.

Another option might be Sosua in the DR, safe, and another place to get some mongering experience.

Again, of all the things I mentioned, the timing right now isn't good to come down in my opinion. If you truly want to come to Medellin, perhaps wait a few weeks. I'm looking at returning on the 23rd of this month but am going to wait and see how things go. I suspect the protests will be in the rear view mirror by then, so then it will just be a matter how things are going with the Pandemic and the lockdowns and curfews.

True, I've thought about that. But I'm buying for long term, and if it all goes to shit, I'll regroup. Also, it's an investment that I can afford to lose in a worst case scenario. I just want it done, so I can go back to the States to get other shit done too.

I would wait to see how things evolve before buying; who knows? . Colombia may turn into another Venezuela and the peso may go down even more.
