It depends on the situation mate. First of all we are talking about a guy who plans to move permanently in a new place secondly no matter what a guy decides the girl has to agree with him. You are correct. Depends on your situation, at least for part of it. Probably 99% of guys don't need a PI to do background checks on chicas for them. I was in the United States, had never been to Colombia, didn't speak Spanish at the time and was going to see a girl I had only met face-to-face for less than 24 hours, about a year earlier. I received MUCH more than a search of public records, which BTW I could not do confidentially at the time or even now because my Spanish is not good enough, yet. For one thing, I learned with confidence the chica I was going to meet did not have a serious boyfriend. That was huge.

I also thought the place where my future novia was working at in Medellin was possibly a criminal enterprise and that turned out to be mostly my paranoia. Those may sound like easy things to uncover, but from a continent away, in a place I had never been, using a language I could not understand, hiring a PI was a no-brainer for me. Hindsight is 20/20 but I would do it again the same way. The issue was not the cost, but what did I have to lose, what was at risk? Also, comfort levels are individualistic, and that alone can be justification. Hard to put a price on peace of mind. Insurance companies make a fortune doing so. Basically, less than two days before the wedding, he found conclusive evidence by his definition that she had a "real" boyfriend all along, and their master plan was basically not to kill him, but siphon off his finances and live a separate parasitic secret existence. The PI's I used would have discovered this. He did not get financially ruined, more like inconvenienced. But the emotional damage was significant. Can you imagine the mess he could've been in if he had not learned what he did until after the wedding? Maybe they would have killed him, who knows? I don't think his situation screamed for a professional background check of his wife to be, because he was with her a lot, but obviously not enough to detect the secret boyfriend. And if you think you are too smart or too wise to get caught like that, I assure you, you are not. There is always a chica slicker and craftier than you.

So avoidance is a valid tacitic. If you are fully committed to the mongering lifestyle, and don't ever plan to have a serious relationship for the rest of your life, then that should not happen to you. But that does not make you smarter, only different. Ostee Out.

So I just flew into Medellin yesterday. And I had zero idea about the protests that are currently happening until the night before I left. Tonight, a large majority of my apartment complex is banging on pots and pans and singing songs. My usual girls are telling me that this is is not going to end soon and potentially not well. Question for you more experienced visitors. This seems like kind of a powder keg. You want to stay in the Poblado area, but you really upscale modern sort of place with nice coffee shops and little stores. As far as finding women that isn't going to be a problem. I'm headed down for about a week at the end of June. Hopefully it won't be too crazy and if it is I'll cancel. I'm a world traveler. Understand the risks in the 3rd world So here's what I need help with. I have a big budget but I don't like to overpay for no reason. Having said that I would pay more for something good then get a deal for something that I could care less about I speak fluent Spanish. I'm fit and professional 40. Most of my experience being an American is I go to Montreal and use escort services. I enjoy the comfort of Incall in a high end well secured hotel. I like 2 hour windows. Hang out a little bit, have dinner / drink a little bit, get it done and then I really don't care if I ever see them again. So here are my questions brothers:

1. First of all where should I a one man show stay? High end Airbnb or a hotel with guest privileges. If you recommend Airbnb what neighborhood should I stay in and what should I ask the host? If you recommend a hotel please let me know which one is a high-end place because those are my preference so I can swim workout and feel like I'm on vacation. The nicer the Hotel The Better.

A good high end hotel which is very guest friendly would be The Premium Plaza Hotel and it has Jacuzzi rooms.

And the highest class women in town can be found within 100 meters of the Hotel.
