Don't give a fake mobile number if you are giving the real ID proof. Reason being if there is a police inquiry in hotel (for any other crime) and they get details of who all stayed there. If they want to call all persons then they won't be able to reach you which will increase suspicion and may lead to a home visit at the address in your Id proof. I am sure it's easier for one to handle them on phone and then visit them rather than welcoming them at home (that too only if you are available else your family members will get all the surprise.)
