How do members feel about walking around El Centro at night. I have only heard negative things about the safety, but then the same things are said about Santa Fe in Bogota. (If you stick to the 3 carreras between Cll. 23 & 24 it is pretty safe). Is there a limited area that is safe and enjoyable?

If you are curious, search for Occidental here to read the reports. I also reported it in the Map and List thread. This strip club is near the more sketchy area. Basically there is not much that will interest you. If you want to go, survey it during daytime, and leave the same way you arrive. Night time can be very different from day time so you don't want to go to the place you don't know. The day time market can be occupied by wall to wall glue sniffers at night.

Now that you put it in those terms I am team bus forever! LOL! I can drop two low end loads for the savings of bus transport. But seriously, there is a lot to be said for a no waiting, no hassle door to door transfer.

There's no right way to get from the airport. I've done taxis, the bus, had a Facebook girl with a car pick me up (and give me a handjob while I fingered her on the drive to Medellin, before the tunnel existed) and had 2 regular girls I know pick me up.

If I'm arriving day time and traveling light, I'll take the bus to San Diego, if I'm staying in Poblado, Envigado or Sabaneta, then hop on a south bound bus. If I'm staying in Laureles, arriving day time and traveling light, bus to Nutibara, metro to Estadio. I think they raise the price quit a bit. My info is just before pandemic. There is a drink price list behind the bar before, not sure if it is still there. You tip the dancer 2000 COP. You can get the waiter to exchange 2 k bills for you or you can go to the bar to exchange it. I exchange 50 mil at a time. You will exchange it more than once if you stay long. 320 mil to take girl to the room is about right. It was 300 mil before. If you want to be sure, ask a few more girls to see if they all give you the same price. You can pay by credit card

Today was proof for me that putting the time into Facebook is worth it. As I mentioned earlier I've built up a list of about 600 girls as compared to 20 on my first trip. Probably what many find hard to believe is that something like this would occur in broad day-light in a busy area, yet this is what goes on. These guys targeted you, I'm assuming your an obvious gringo, and they were hoping you would be scared, and just hand over your belongings with no resistance and be gone in under a minute.

Your experience should serve as a reminder that when you least expect it, you can become a target in Medellin, not only in El Centro, but in Poblado as well, which has been brought up many, many times before on this thread.

You can never become complacent, meaning let your guard down.

A rapid test anytime Wednesday or Thursday before you leave is sufficient to return to the US. You need to fill out the Check-mig form (https://apps.migracioncolombia.gov.c...reregistro.jsf) and the US Attestation Form. The airline you are using should have a link to that form. I think most airlines require you to be fully vaccinated, although that is not a requirement for US citizens.

I remember seeing posts somewhere about customs looking at your phone for some sort of "evidence" of miss behaving. Oddly enough I was just watching an episode of 'To Catch A Smuggler" where a man was coming back from Colombia and was held up by customs. This guy had everything on him from masks to rubber tarps. They checked all his photos / footage and hard drives looking for things like child pornography and what not. I've been to El Centro and I wouldn't go back during the daytime much less at night time you just asking to get robbed if you go there even the local say so now you going to have some argument from some of the veteran mongers who know the way around but if you're a newbie forget it.

The question isn't whether it's safe to walk around El Centro at night. The real question is why would anyone want to walk around El Centro at night? Most of the places are closed after about 8 pm. The only street girls out after 8 pm are generally not the cream of the crop. So with the exception of a few areas, you're just walking around dark and deserted streets. What's the purpose?

There are the bars and strip clubs north of Plaza Botero between DeGreif and the Metro. There's Barro Ejecutivo. There's Mercado de la Playa and a few open restaurants and that's about it. If someone is interested in going to one of those areas, then go there. There's nothing to be gained from just walking around randomly in El Centro at night.

The Bronx are only for the brave that don't mind police attention.

Even the bar street is safe. You just need to be aware of pick pockets. Its so simple, a girl comes up to you and grabs your dick with one hand and tries to go in your pocket with the other. I dont much hang on that part of el centro, but for those that have never been pocketed, beware! Its also so simple for the newbie. Those wanna be pick pockets stay to once corner. Once you know their tricks, its all cool. Keep your hands near your pockets.

As for the bus ride. Yea same thing happened to me but it all ended up good. I got off near that all night restaurant and now have to look for that brothel. I thought I knew the place well. Guess not well enough.
