Posts: 1263I respectfully disagree. Mongering in Bangkok is abysmal in 2022. Sometimes, I think it's better to hold on to the good memories than to spoil them in the cesspit of a few dozen borderline scary hardened bargirls, homeless-class freelancers and a huge proportion of ladyboys that ply their trade on lower Sukhumvit road. In my opinion, in Bangkok 2010 and earlier were the golden years, 2019 was already unappealing, and all we have now in 2022 are scattered pathetic remnants of 2019.

For anyone interested, I have just successfully completed the latest Test & Go obstacle course marathon. Arrived late on Thursday night from Australia with hard copies of all my paperwork and just handed the entire bundle over to immigration. Processing was quick and after collecting my bag was able to buy a SIM card. No access to duty free however. Emerged at gate 10 and very little wait for my private and screened transport to the hotel. PCR test on the hotel car park roof and given a RAT test kit for day 5. Back down to Hotel reception, checked in, given my room key and told to wait until I got the test result in the morning. Negative COVID result received by email around 7 am, about 7 hours later. Free to go to breakfast!
I did my own RAT test on day 5 (yesterday) which was negative again, fortunately. The Morchana app that I downloaded was not working (typical) so I was unable to upload a photo of my passport alongside of the negative test result. After consulting hotel reception I sent the pic the them and they said that they would upload it when the app was working again. Who knows if this will happen but kept the undated pic anyway.
Old hands would be disappointed with the current nightlife. Only about 8 bars open in NEP, girls dancing in 3 and no showing except for tits in one. Soi Cowboy looked even worse, dancing and tits in one bar only but a lot of fun can be had with girls sitting outside the bars which are open.
In summary, is it worth coming, yes I think so. Plenty of SW about. Beats the poor sexual prisons in most places.
Yours in mongering, Johnie.

Posts: 73FWIW, in some clubs the girls wear see-through with bikini undergarments. Still not nude, but some progress.

Posts: 73The bar that used to be 'Enter' on the 3rd floor is now Rainbow 3. I wonder what they have in mind for 1 and 2?

An update for anyone coming to Bangkok at the moment. There are a number of GoGo's open in Bangkok now, however they don't operate like they did in the past.
Due to regulations the girls are not meant to be in Bikinis and are not meant to dance. So you will see a lot of nearly fully clothed women hanging around. Very much unlike the fun that could be had pre covid.
Add this to the much smaller amount of girls in each Gogo and that only 1/4 of clubs are open all equates to a much less fun experience.
So if you are coming to BKK don't expect too much.
Disclaimer: You will see the occasional club ignore the rules for a night or two, if you do see this it is really a bonus and probably not going to stay like that. For example one night we went to 1 Gogo and the girls were practically naked, the very next night they were all fully clothed again and looking bored. Nothing is the same.

Posts: 689And morning traffic is bad, too
But believe it or not BTS has seats available most of the time. And no long lines at Siam or Asoke.

Posts: 347Insanity and other nightclubs
Has Insanity re opened after being busted in December? How about the other nightclubs? Which of the ones that have lots of freelancers are currently open? I apologize if this has been covered recently, but I fail to see it mentioned here in the last few weeks.

Posts: 59Traffic is all right in Sukhumvit area. Just avoid rush hours between 6-8 pm for now.

The lower Sukhumvit Road area traffic can be quite heavy and jammed during morning and evening rush hour times. Traveling along that road by car to and from the bars on Friday nights can be a pain. The same can often be said for the major streets that cross Sukhumvit like Asoke where Soi Cowboy is located, Wireless Road at Central Embassy mall and Ratchathewi where Central World mall is located.

A question for anyone "in country"
Anyone who have visited Bangkok (in the "before times") knows that BKK city traffic is / was notoriously bad. So bad, it impedes you ability to get around town.
How is traffic nowadays?
Bangkok sounds like it is opening up again; but it also seems like it is still not as congested as it was before. I might be tempted to visit before things get hectic again. (When I travel, I go for tourism first. I might hobby if I still have the energy.).
Thanks for the feedback.

Posts: 137Best advice I got as a new tourist 10 years ago that still applies today if you're unsure she's working or not just leave 2000 near her bag in the morning, and don't say anything. Sometimes a girl will confirm its for her, some will just quietly take it. No one is complaining as a freelancer getting 2000 when no money was brought up beforehand. And of course none will just leave it there because 99% of the time if you're unsure that means they are in the game.

Posts: 324You are probably right in that 2 to 4 k may be a bit much. It all depends on the type of girl is he generally finds he is with. My type would definitely want 3 k to 4 k long term, but I prefer quality over quantity.

Girls that put out fairly easily on the first date and are younger and prettier are most likely freelances and expect a decent amount.
I would suggest that he asks the next 2 or 3 directly what they expect before he has sex with them. Then use that as a basis for moving forward. Once he works out a rate that his targeted group is happy with he would not need to mention rates going forward. Just slip that amount into the purse in the morning. The amount of call backs you get will go from 0 to 90%.

Posts: 7449Yes, I would still take screenshots of important photos and conversation pages and send them to a photo storage app before I delete my Line account from a phone to transfer it to another phone, just to be sure. Imo, Line is not all that reliable about certain things. I know Thai girls who are whizzes at everything you can do on Line that still cry over lost photos and such whenever they get a new phone. Which some do every 6 months it seems.

Posts: 3374I think the post generalizes it. It probably is only for the same type of phones. Some apps are easy, some are difficult or not possible if you switch between Android and iPhone.
