Let's not get started about the hygiene factor.

True observation. I think hygiene is one of the important factor I typically see since already paid huge penalty by visiting unhygienic spas in past.

It's an old habit of tip sharing. Managers assume that their spa is a brothel so mongers MUST be taking extras hence the standard 50% cut. But all you know it could be a novel scheme of sob story to extract money (or maybe not). For your fav therapists, take their number. I am sure they would not also like to lose a valuable client.
