Posts: 4625I am not sure this is a sugar baby. If you are a guy looking to come to Colombia, have one girl at your disposal who is great looking and great in bed, that setup where you help a girl out and not have to be looking makes sense to me. I never demanded a woman like this be loyal and thought it was a waste of time. This type of situation is for a guy looking to have the best encounters but not having that much time when in Colombia. $500 or $1000 a month or whatever is equivalent to an hour or two with a decent looking woman in NYC, so it is not that much for a lot of guys. If the guys is smart, he has / had this woman as a hooker on retainer not a sugar baby.

Thing is everyone talking about the SB thing thinks that sugar babies are supposed to be loyal. There are three things wrong with having a girl like this is a sugar baby. One, she worked / lived in a bad neighborhood. That is out. Second she was a working girl, and that is an absolute no go for anyone. And finally, she is from Venezuela, and there is the cultural issue with long term there and a less than secure citizenship status. She is going to have to take a buck anywhere she can get it with that level of insecurity.
The guys who think that they are masters of the Colombia universe typically hang in places that are the American equivalent of Watts, South Chicago, and Harlem. You can get Colombian women in the American equivalence of Beverly Hills, Lincoln Park, and Manhattan. Those are the places where the women get long term. So if you are looking for a sugar baby, one of the first questions you should ask is which neighborhood she lives in and to know the nicer places. The women I met in the nicer neighborhoods did not smoke, do drugs, and drank socially at most. She should have other things going on in her life like school, a job, or a child. These women are much less likely to mess around. Being American puts you pretty much in the highest class in Colombia and opens the door for you to meet them.
An ISGer in Bogota told me the best looking girl he met in Santa Fe was an 8. He had to go to the higher end normal clubs to see 9's and 10's, and I think that is because of the emphasis on health. The women I was serious with ate right and worked out, and it showed.
Unless you live in Florida, getting back and forth to Colombia is not easy, and I do not think you can expect loyalty unless you are there every month or so. Free video chats help but it is not the same as being there. If you are not there often and you have a hot woman, she will likely leave because there are so many men around who are offering her the world. So unless you live in Colombia or have a very flexible schedule that allows for travel, a Colombian SB is a bad idea. If you want to reserve regulars to see, the hooker on retainer concept make much more sense.
One guy on here said my current gal was with me because I was her best offer which told me where he was hanging out. My gal has a hot friend, who is almost her equivalent looks wise, who has a Greek BF with a jet. I also met several high end women who had been to Europe, Mexico, and the USA and if they had not been there, they had family there. Being American gets you in the door but you have to do more than just be an American to seal the deal with the higher end women. I met one woman who had several offers at being a SB and marriage to Americans. Whether the offers were serious, I do not know but being attractive, great in bed, and having the ability to speak English, made me think she was not lying.

The good old Metro, perfect for getting to El Centro and the only way I go there, yet there are challenges using it, especially at rush hour. Besides people not moving away from the car entrance upon entering, the worst place to board is at the landing closet to the stairs. As an example, at the Poblado Station, and the other stations, but not San Antonio, everyone wants to board without having to walk a ways down the Platform, and hence it can be a nightmare getting into the first set of cars. During peak times I always walk a ways down the Platform and the cars will be less full, and fighting to get into the cars, and squeezed into a can, like a sardine, can be avoided. And of course during rush hours, you might have to wait ten minutes in line outside a station, just to get into the Station. And if you show up and don't have a pre loaded Civica card, another long wait in line.

Posts: 40You sound like you want to be living large when you are in Medellin. And the third one appears to be in a basement with no windows. Personally, I'the feel a bit closed in. But at the end of the proverbial day, if that is what you want, go for it. Just trying to be helpful if you overlooked that.

I like the way you put, "If you can't handle the rain". I may have undersold the rainy seasons in the past as not effecting what you can do here. After all, mongering is an indoor sport. I schedule my time here without regard to the rainy months. The temperature is so stable and for me that trumps any rain inconvenience. If you are counting on lots of outdoor tours and activities, like a real vacation and not just mongering, then the rain can definitely effect your plans.
Good point about the shoes. My fall back for those in Thailand which has a true rainy season, was wearing rubber flip-slops when wading half-way up your shins.

Posts: 503Agree with the others that this is quite aggressive, even by my standards as someone who often pays 'too much' (I. E. More than 200 k for a girl).

I don't keep a tight budget, but I'm typically around $200/ day ($50 to $75 / lodging, $75 (girls. Casa, FB, SA), and $50 (food, drink, transport, tours)) over my 10 day trips.

Posts: 18133My man these are professional hookers that have seen it all. You do not have to impress them; you only have to pay them. Whatever place you are planning on staying, they are probably already there every week and known by name by the staff.

Posts: 62Thanks! I was mainly worried about the girl taking my wallet and cell phone while I'm taking a shower. Using panitos at the beginning of the session sounds like a good idea.

"Un rato" was supposed to be 15-20 minutes, but the knock on the door usually came after about 11 minutes.

Posts: 4346I have to back up Ravi here, and everybody else in fact. Everyone is within their rights to spend however much they choose. Maybe it's easy for me to say because I don't think there are enough guys spending at levels that inflate the market. Sure, 300 K is the mid to high rate on the Poblado streets and 150,000 is the low end for Facebook bunnies. I personally know guys who pay much more than what Ravi described. None of them are here full time and I don't think that is a coincidence. They are not stupid so they would see the costs differently with more exposure to the overall market. I try to keep an open mind. Even though I'm a Centro rat I plan to look in on Luna Lunera sometime this coming week. The 150,000 peso cost difference with Centro doesn't matter to me but I'm highly unlikely to pay it unless I see someone of special interest who looks like I might be five times as happy as I am after a Centro quickie. Like any market, be it commodities, equities or consumer products, outliers don't move the core fundamentals. In equity markets, sophisticated investors have access to tools and knowledge that weekend warriors do not. There is consistent value in emerging markets for investors who can evaluate IPOs based on profit potential rather than emotion or intuition.

Posts: 4346Speaking only for myself, I use public transportation (metro) to avoid traffic jams when I don't have an extra hour to spare to be stuck in traffic. I absolutely prefer the comfort of a private car but sometimes it's not practical for me if I can't leave early enough to allow time for traffic. Although the metro at less than 3,000 pesos is very low cost, it's not significantly less than a 10,000 to 20,000 peso taxi / uber / didi fare. Guys who are here vacationing alone for a few days are unlikely to be operating on a schedule or have concerns about keeping friends waiting.
As long as we are on the subject of public transportation, there are a few uniquely Colombian metro habits that will surprise people who are used to systems in North America, Europe, or Asia. Here are a few: many people use the loudspeakers on their mobile phones to view videos or listen to music or make calls in the middle of crowded cars, the area immediately in front of the doors is the most popular place to ride. Even if your stop is many stations away, at the height of rush hour people will board a train and not take a single step into the car in spite of a platform full of people trying to board (to be fair men don't complain when you push them into the car), a somewhat related issue is the cologne and perfume situation which is not good for anyone sensitive to fragrances.

If you can't handle rain, which can be totally unpredictable at times, as June is typically one of the wettest months, than perhaps you should re-schedule your trip for another month. If not, make sure you bring more than one set of shoes because most probably your going to need them. Or better yet maybe some waterproof boots and I'm being serious about this. You can easily stay dry wearing rain gear and an umbrella, but keeping your shoes dry can be a challenge. And you can expect to be stepping in puddles, also known in Spanish as "charcos" which can be very deep. During a heavy downpour, also known in Spanish as an "aquacero" the puddles can get quite deep, and sometimes it rains so hard, the streets become like rivers.

It's something about Latin culture, but they have daily struggles and if someone seems to be flaunting it, then they rationalize doing other things. When you moderate it, they relate a bit more. Not saying go cheap Charlie, but anyone planning to spend more than $1000 US a day in MDE is just being stupid. Hey if that's your style, go for it, don't argue about it here. If you were a Billionaire I would say the same thing. I might however tell you to hire private security instead though.

Posts: 410No need to assert that it's your money your right. Goes without saying. There is a saying when in Rome do as the romans do. Whilst of course being from developed countries we are more used to the creature comforts and would want to avail ourselves of them, it's also true that you want to be roughly where the market is at.

Obviously it has to be chica friendly. I can usually find all that in the $60-100 a night range.
As for chicas, I pay 150 euro in Barcelona without batting an eye. In Mde that rate is 200 mil. Sure I can say 150 euro is 600 mil in MDE and rationalize it, but the fact is that you have both overpaid and also potentially put a target on your back. Remember at its core this is a transactional relationship, if you catch feelings that's on you. Do you go into a barber there and when the barber asks you for 20 mil, do you say nah here is 100 mil that's what I usually pay? That's the jist of the argument.
Now others have said there is some flexibility around those rates and there are girls that will take 150 mil or won't ever see anyone under 300 mil, all of that is true. Some variance and negotiation is to be expected based on quality and pricing power. However the truth is many gringos esp. new ones exaggerate it with their behavior and rationalization. There are atleast 8 chicas in my FB list that are in Europe right now, on a mongers dime. I have had 4 of them one at 150mil 2 at 200 mil and one at 250mil. As for the dudes sponsoring these trips, Is that necessary? Or have they caught feelings? Or are they rationalizing? I don't know, but either way it's not wise. My 2 cents on this topic.

Posts: 1643I just realized one of your possible motives for posting
You may have been responding to one of the bottom feeders that populates this Web site. Since you didn't Reply With Quote, that wasn't obvious to me. I have many others blocked on this site but when I thought about your post some more, it seemed like you might have been responding to someone, so I went back and read all the new posts that were on my Ignore List.

Posts: 15Couldn't agree with you more, the board is getting less and less constructive and is not useful in helping fellow hobbyist and has become rife with egos, mocking others, politics and other BS. The thread is about Medellin Reports, but most of the pages are nothing but arguments by so called subject matter experts. If you don't like someone's budget just move on, no need to troll and suggest that people take their hobbies elsewhere.
