Going against the tide, I would advice to take the risk and move forward slowly. A young girl with a baby is less likely to create trouble to avoid any inconvenience to baby. Your post itself makes it clear. Don't sit where you eat.

Having affairs in office is still ok as your house / family / social circle isn't accessible easily. For a maid, all these are accessible to quickly blackmail you or create ruckus of things go with later. And rest assured some time later things will go south. If it's a review accommodation with not much social investment in the society, its still ok. Otherwise you lose face not with just your family but friends and known.

Your wife you can handle if it comes out, she may know the truth but still take your side but you can't stop neighbours tongue from wagging. Its risky but the kuch you may get from having this situation is exhilarating.
