Posts: 3802Dehookerization at Ground Zero
It will be interesting to see how long the barricading of ground zero will be in effect for since initiated. Almost a ghost town albeit a few scattered walkers inside the barricaded areas with everyone on the other side of the barricades and the glass covered walkway area is very crowded.
Kind of surreal walking inside of the barricaded area and not seeing walkers all over the place and the business's inside are getting hammered with hardly any foot traffic passing thru. And although getting access into the area thru the manned police entrances may entail being searched, you can enter the area thru the complex adjacent to the Metro without being searched. And business at the short time hotels like Premium Plaza has to be way down along with all the eateries having way less customers.
Oh well.

Fun to hit Parque Lleras and chat with the girls I know from Centro.
Most girls go home empty handed, but they're all looking for the big gringo payout. LOL.
Had a great time in Medellin, and Bogota as well.
I'm always a street a guy at heart, and almost always have pretty good luck.
Befriended a few cops guarding Botero now.
Cool guys.
Kept me safe while on the hunt at night on the other side of the gated Plaza.
When they split, I did as well.
Too many bad hombres on the hunt to rob at night to go about unguarded at night.
Overall I like Medellin the most in Colombia, then Bogota, however, Brazil will always be my number uno.
Heading back there tomorrow.
Cheers.

Posts: 1887While less common than in the US, it happens. If you're a young good looking guy who has chicas hit on you in the US, you can definitely get laid in Colombia for nothing. If you really want to do this, get out of Poblado, especially near Parque Lleras. A lot of non pros don't want to be seen with an obvious Gringo in these areas.

I don't want to be cheap and annoy her however I also don't want to drastically overpay. It may even sound suspicious "For so much money, what does he want to do with me?

I wouldn't pay that. Don't be surprised when you meet her and she is 10 years older and 30 lbs heavier. I would recommend that you meet her for dinner and if you feel like take her back to your place. There are way too many beautiful women in Medellin than to settle for just seeing one. Enjoy some variety and have 4 or 5 different girls on your trip. After I'm with a girl for 3-4 hours I'm ready for the next one.

Posts: 249I think the fact that you are fluent Spanish speaking and are dating age appropriate women puts you in a different category than 90% of the Americans visiting Medellin.

Posts: 140There are plenty of chicas who want a gringo boyfriend, hope to find a mozo (be your mistress) to support them, or want an adventure / fun time (or multiple of these things). The same rules don't apply here as the US for dating especially in terms of age. This last time I was in Medellin I went on a date with a 21-year-old law student who lives in Luareles, is from a good family and who spoke fluent English. In addition to going out with me, she told me all about the 50-year-old gringo ex-boyfriend she'd recently broke up with after dating them for 8 months. The point is there are lots of local women who are interested in and open to dating foreigners for the reasons listed above including some fairly classy ones. Also remember, many enjoy going to nice spots and don't have the disposable income to make it happen every weekend on their own (so that's another reason she may say yes to going out with you). I've never found that being in country for a shorter time period (a week or two) has hurt my ability to get a date. I usually sleep with a few of the girls I go on dates with after the first date. I'm not saying all of these girls are classy or true "good girls", but they are girls that decided to sleep with me without receiving more than taxi money or possibly 50 k for a sitter, though sometimes neither of the two.

I don't pick up girls at clubs its mostly online for me 95% Facebook. I've hit it off with a few girls at stores, and on the street as well. I have chatted with a few girls over tinder but I take the same approach of screening their other social media, chatting extensively and dictating our plans for the date myself (I'd say this is the normal expectation with these women for a first date).
If you want to be as safe as possible I'd stick to casas during daytime hours. I'd avoid the Centro ones because you run a slight risk of getting robbed by a drug addict or you could step in a pothole and hurt yourself (I kid about the pothole especially though exactly that happened to me outside of New Life in 2020). Just sticking to pros on Facebook or the online pages doesn't guarantee your safety. I've heard stories of pros that scam, steal, and drug. Personal recommendations can help, though I can think of one girl I thought was chill and have been with that I heard had robbed another guy who let his guard down with her. Colombia is not the safest spot in the world and its not a beginner destination either. You need some street smarts and language skills will also help you a lot. My advice is to make plans to mitigate risks, don't be too trusting too quickly, trust your own instincts, and don't worry about bailing if something seems off.

Also, I just joined a private facebook group called Colombia Scopolamine Victims and Alerts. I am attaching a couple of screen shots. Apparently the perpetrators are non-pros, at least generally.

Posts: 1945Right. But the stats he reported were not even instances of scop, they were robberies. Of ocurse, the vast, vast majority of crimes go unreported, espec in countries where the polcie are corrupt or incompetent, or both, like in Colombia and the USA.

Posts: 47It's too much. But it's your money
Just wanted to chime in. I agree with the earlier poster that your plan is unlikely to succeed. Medellin (as has been noted here countless times) is not like Lisbon or most of Europe. These chicas are truly go with the flow and few plan out what they're doing more than a day in advance. If she's having a good time with you, she'll stay and you'll be golden. If not, the excuses (sick friend, sick mom) will come. My advice is to just play it by ear day to day.

Then she crashed at my place (with her friends) for the weekend and it was 300 mil for the weekend (food costs made up for it). So yes, I would say 1 million pesos per day is an overpay. But it's your $$$ so if that's what you want to do. Go for it and have fun.

Posts: 1261Police reports and stats are one thing, hospital stats are another. If you can find it there was a good article a couple or three years ago on drug poisonings with scopolamine, and the numbers were in the 10's of thousands. Up to 100,000 for the country. I will try to find that and dig it out.

So my perception is that if you are careless and see working chicas in Medellin or Bogota, you have a very high chance of it happening. Of course in most cases it would be in your own apartment, etc. So by following the great suggestions of folks like Jb and others on this board you can reduce that risk to negligible, but without taking some care you are a target.
