Well, it's Water Festival now and everything closed until Monday. But, otherwise, yes and no. All foreign construction projects stopped; the cranes are not moving. Big hotels downtown like Pullman and Shangri La are shuttered. Pan Pacifics on other hand are open with Park Royal rate a bargain at 45 usd. Practically zero Westerners except the mugs who have jobs here. It's crawling with Chinese though, practically taken over. The best Western food places closed, so if you want something good (and safe) must eat in hotels. But you want to know about Emperor: girl rate is 60-70+ usd. Entry price 5 usd. All girls working there have club IDs now and work through mamasan pimps. Total brothel experience chinese. There's ones on the street though. This is your new normal. Rainy season will be starting soon, so you may want to wait until September. There's now an official exchange rate and an unofficial, so you need to bring cash only -- and that's pristine only otherwise you're in for annoyance. Cover charge is 50 usd for visa and 122 usd for covid insurance which you get on line. If you want a place to go because you're a cheap, low budget crawler, Myanmar would kinda suck for you.

I have been back 2 x since July. I have my mama san contact so brings me ladies to the hotel. Haven't been downtown or to clubs. Is emperor open again? What about apple KTV.

I haven't been there for 4 years or so. Soon after I last posted the situation looks to have deteriorated in Yangon, I wouldn't be keen to hang out downtown there at present.

Not likely to get a reply from somebody "on the ground". Most here seem to be occasional visitors. Burma / Myramar has been closed to tourists for a long time (at least a year). That is why you don't see any recent reporting.

As Myanmar's current inflation is over 11% (Aya Bank website), every price has increased. About double in last 5-6 years. Some items seem same price, but only due to shifting to local factory or low quality import from Thailand and China. Yes, those factories made different QA standard products for various export destinations. I have seen similar brand packages from Bangkok and Yangon, and the price is same after currency conversion, but taste and quality isn't. Anyway, I digress. Apologies.

Thus, the standard fare for Yangon service providers have double to 80 k - 100 k kyats. This assumes a freelancer. Obviously, you'll pay surcharge to house / papasan / mamasan. It can be 30 k - 50 k MMK. So, expect to pay 130 k (80+50) for low end fashion show girl at Emperor, 150 k (100+50) for high end model fashion walker at Emperor. There are no more independent contractors or FLs at Emperor, JJ / Apple, or Pioneer. Therefore, you'll pay 50 k as flower tip money (or barfine in Thailand / Philippines) to takeout. Since the girl gets some of that flower money, she can deduct that in negotiation or forgo it, I. E. 30 k barfine.

As for the ladies' price of 80 k - 100 k, they usually don't budge from it, because their mamasans control the price point. Some mamasans take half of it, due to providing room & board, transportation, mobile, and security (or rather protection from LE). Some fashion show managers are ok with their share of flower tip, since the ladies have their own house / apartment and ferry / taxi.
