I can't speak except for two Asian countries that is China and Thailand more of Thailand than anything. I proudly can say I've never been to Europe but those Europeans I know retired here surely couldn't if they work at the same standard as Thailand!

The standard of pay here in Thailand is basically a minimum wage of 300 baht a day, under this administration it is only volunteer now. I do know from my son and daughter-in-law that foreign companies do pay that amount like Lotus, Big see, 7/11, KFC, and Starbucks the hours daily are 10,6 days a week starting pay for all especially here in Pattaya is 9-10,000 a month. Does any of what I just wrote get you down from your soap box of righteousness? In spite of the high standard you praise Thailand being comparing it with Europe the main reason for the spite in Covid in 2021, was Thailands leaders who took brides and turn a blind eye in allowing the factory owners to sneak in illegal workers from Myanmar, Cambodia, pack them into shacks like sardines down the road from Pattaya in Siracha. At that time the only vaccine available was Sinovac, many of the Thai front line workers who were given the Sinovac were getting sick and dying treating Covid, the Johnson and Johnson the French donated was designated only for the French expat. Sinovac was only given outside of Thai to mainland Chinese ex-pats or work as an American we were left on our own until a Political Tammy Duckworth part Thai, got the government to donate the first 2 million doses that 200,000 was to be given to Expat, and you know what America didn't say give it to American it was given to any Expat that wanted one. Then another 4 million doses follow after that. Now some soap boxer is going to say well the vaccine doesn't work I don't know if it does are doesn't but I've had 4 shots and not had Covid living here. What I do know prior lots of people including those who claim it doesn't work wasn't singing that song then. The timeline based on what I just wrote above is the reason Pattaya is open now it wasn't until Thais were getting Pfizer the rate started to drop.

My daughter-in-law has been at Makro for a year starting at just shy of 10,000 baht she has a Thai Master's from the government school in Accounting which is great but useless. In the year with all the holidays hasn't been any other time off except every day every day no holiday pay no vacation. Does that sound like Europe? My son has worked for Flash, the. I. why. , HomePro, and DHL, all with the same pay the same long hours and days off! The reason I and my wife told our son to forget these jobs and go work with his mother at the restaurant and have the time to care for his own daughter.

Maybe you hang around with people in Thailand more than me but the general population the majority are poor this is what they make reason you can come here brag about your exploit and get your dick fucking suck and get feed back you might have paid too much!

My nephew back home in the USA No college a licensed contractor makes 10 times what a doctor makes at Bumrungrad! My home minimum wage is $15.00 an hour which is for people making coffee, selling burgers, cleaning off tables at the airport, and you know what part-time or full-time they get overtime, two days off, 8-hour days vacation, and sick leave. How you can compare Thailand is beyond me unless you wrote what you wrote after smoking that bullshit weed they grow here!

I have a weekend planned in Pattaya and back to work from Monday (BKK). In the view of the upcoming advance elections on Sunday, do you think there will be a drop in number / fun quotient of working girls at beer bars and FLs on Walking street? My other option will be to hang around in BKK. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Keep in mind that this and next week everything will be closed on Saturday. So no bars / gogos are open.

Hey Mongers. This might be not be the right spot but figured I'd give it a shot. I've got an opportunity to travel out to Milan for a work trip. No real details yet but I'm trying to swing a little fun while I'm abroad. My dream is Thailand but that's a bit too far of a trip for me but I'm trying to find another place where I can get what I've heard dudes getting out in SEA (GFE). I've been to Colombia and that's high up on the list but any other spots I might be able to hit up? If SEA is in a league of it's own, then maybe I try to swing it but seeing what other options are out there.

On average, Thailand has twice as many holidays as Western Europe. In Thailand if a holiday falls on a week-end, it gets compensated on a week-day. Not so usually in Europe: if a holiday falls on a Saturday or a Sunday, you're out of luck. So much for Thailand being a country with low labour costs where workers get exploited.

When it comes to Thailand they have so many holidays I think if it was possible they would celebrate a buffaloe taking a shit. I have a Thai calendar of 30% each month seems a day has a red marking meaning some type of event or holiday. Even Thais don't have a clue what is coming.

Then you got Pattaya, it is all about the tourist so who knows every weekend there is something going on some event down the beach road. Of course, bring them in even the Thais complain about the traffic on Pattaya Watch, too many buses, nowhere to park, etc etc. Traffic jams because someone decides I'm not walking park ends up blocking the whole Soi, they even wonder where is the police and why nothing is done. According to the new mayor who ran he will change everything but only from wearing a T-Shirt to custom-made shirts now with all the money he is pocketing. His claim is that all the contracts handed out to these contractors aren't fulfilling their commitments and their citizens are so used to being dumped on they actually believe it.

Then all I know is right after Songkran it still isn't low season until Asia " Golden Week is over " not sure it has come and gone but places like Bacarra, Happy are packed with Asian.

The holiday started last Saturday and will last until the 5th. Monday was the official "Labor Day" or workers day in China, but they try to make all of these big holidays so the public has time to travel back home. Hong Kong only had a single day (May 1), as they do not observe all of the same holidays in the same way as the mainland.

Not exactly sure where they are from majority Mainland Chinese or Hong Kong? Earlier I've run into groups some slip and start talking Cantonese which usually hints from Hong Kong or Southern China although the main language is Mandarin now. These aren't groups you low spenders but are well off, a few months back in January I ran into a bunch of them at Immigration getting extensions. I run into a few on the Darkside even in my wife's roadside restaurant I see signs the way they come across that those are the grey business many here doing illegal activities.

I run into them in small groups at High Roller, Bacarra, Peppermint, XS, Palace, and Pin Up, even before Covid many were at Bacarra. What is missing in the conversation is I've run into groups of Vietnamese on the Darkside too. There was a time I was mistaken for Korean or Japanese even local Thai for some reason after Covid I'm getting asked more if Chinese and when I tell them I'm not from the mainland but made in the USA A they crack up. I've even get spoken to in English more at 7/11 and other stores wondering why they speaking English to me since I'm mistaken for a Thai. Recently I was given change and the girl spoke in English the teller next to her said why are you speaking English to a Thai guy? Then the girl spoke in Thai " are you Thai " I just smiled.

Maybe they are here for the Durian it is in season?

I chose that time because arrive in BKK lunch time. Finish lunch usually can check into hotel an hour or 2 early.

Depending on the holiday forgot to mention you don't want to take the bus to Bangkok after a major holiday for example Christmas and New Year a few years back big mistake got to the station and the backup to Ekamai was for hours for the next bus. Lucky traveling alone allows you as the bus is finished loading tell the lady you alone and if sit is available for one will allow you on if no one else is ahead and answer to the one rider call.

It's because you (smartly) departed Pattaya nice and early on the final day of a 3-day weekend. If you leave before 11 am you can usually avoid the worst of holiday weekend traffic, even at New Years / Songkran (you'll also avoid having to wait a long time for vacant bus seat). Having enjoyed a leisurely lunch I (stupidly) left Jomtien at 3:15 pm that day so I caught the worst of it. Better to leave early in the day or super early (5 am) the day after a holiday weekend, I think, to avoid huge traffic jams.

I wouldn't call myself smart. Hahaha. I don't have much insight into traffic patterns.
