It is the same with the hotels. There are guest friendly hotels but there are also a lot of hotels that do not allow guests or charge a high price for visitors.

You don't run into this issue as much in Thailand or the Philippines or even Mexico. But apparently it is an issue in Medellin.
Also much less an issue in Brazil it seems, at least as far as hotels (not AirBnBs) are concerned. Thirty years ago Brazil was awful in that respect, you could hardly find a single hotel that allowed guests in without a hefty joiner fee.

Centro is definitely not a point and click game. Even the casas require a time commitment to get the best experience.

Most guys who go to Centro and see all the undesirables as you described have a tendency to jump to the conclusion that anyone who partakes there is also an undesirable as well.

However I think it takes a lot of effort, versus a little effort to find what your looking for, the language barrier is huge, and probably the hardest part is that you need to spend lots of time on the ground there and be very patient to find the diamonds in the rough.

Medellin probably has more Abnb places with guest restrictions than other cities. There is definitely a lot of hosts who do not want the business of gringos engaged in mongering so be careful about reading the house rules when trying to book an Abnb place.

If you are a casa guy or El Centro streetwalker fan, it will not be a problem and there are a lot of great places that you can stay for a reasonable price. There are still a number of good places on Abnb that are guest friendly but I would say it is a minority of listings on Abnb.

It is even more of an issue in San Jose Costa Rica.

Even if the Airbnb says nothing about guests I would read the description of the unit and the other info in the listing. You may be in an apartment attached to the family home, for example. In that case one would reasonably refrain from having guests in. The safest bet is to ask the host before you book.

A girl without an ID from Lleras is a death wish.

Obviously, as he has proven time and time again with his arrogant posts, MB1 doesn't know the real Colombia, he stays in his plastic barrios fucking his plastic women that he overpays.

El Centro is much more than just Botero or Veracruz, it is the heart of the city where you can find anything your looking for whether that be bandeja paisa, paintings being sold by local artists, even shower heads and excellent quality knock off shoes. I myself like to sip on a 2 mil lemonade while sitting down and people watching.

As far as the prostitution goes sure there are a lot of undesirable hags in the Veracruz area but there are also beautiful, sweet diamonds in the rough to be found there, it just takes a little effort to find what you are looking for. To blow the whole place off is just asinine. But hey I guess if you've got "the coin" you can live in your own little arrogant world.

That is why my favorite thing to say is "como asi?" so that I can get clarification.

Cita means what you want it to, generally it means that you meet up for sex, any other activities will be up to you but it generally means at your place. Few Colombian girls will be talking to foreign men they've never met over the internet, those that do know what the score is.

Honestly, I wouldn't bother talking to them too much until you're in country or at least very close to it (I. E. You're sitting in the departure lounge and bored).

Colombianas live in the moment, at best they might make plans for the next few days, even then those plans are pretty far from solid. If she's asking if you want a cita, she means now-ish, as in she's bored and needs money today.

As a side note, if you've never been to Medellin, you should really read up on Colombian slang (Google is your friend here). This will really help with the language barrier,.

Tried it several years ago, so not sure this is helpful. But I left pretty disappointed.

I would recommend Happy Massage for what you're looking for. It is pricey, by Colombian standards, but has exactly what you are looking for. I've visited with all of the current girls and I don't think you can make a bad choice.

I literally just left Zen. Got a really hot masseuse. Believe her name is Joanna. Very nice look to her. But best I could do was a HJ. Same experience as OM. But the massage was very good.

I went there a couple years back. It wasn't anyting speical like a second rate energy and not that organized. I actually got caught by my noiva at the time because I had "tantra medellin" in my most recent uber rides and I had a uber driver waiting of for me. He cancled the ride and I had to put an address in when my GF showed up and she grab my phone, typed and then giggle nervously. Later that night she revelaed and ya. Tantra Medellin pretty hard to hide haha.

I didn't get any Tantra either, its just a name. Normal sex place with pretty average girls.

    The language barrier

I have done it both ways going low end and high end. Even in between. I love street girls so sometimes that's the way I do it. I also love higher end girls too.

In the end I am most concerned with did you have a good time.
    And this:

From cheap hotels to Hostels I've been able to stay in countries much longer not pay a premium for lodging and women and search for those diamonds in the rough in the slummier mongering locations. I speak Spanish fluently and have had great experiences without breaking the bank. For me a pretty comfy bed and a roof over my head is all I need. Plus meeting likeminded backpackers and world travelers from all walk of life is fun when staying in hostels. If I meet a higher maintenance type of girl I always have the option of a nicer love motel or booking a 5 star hotel for one or 2 nights if necessary. I'm not flashy nor am I dirty and unhygienic. Upper thirties, fit, decent looking white Latino dude and you will find me having fun in Santa Fe, Centro Medellin or Gringo Gulch CR. If I want to treat a great girl I find to luxury we can always take a trip somewhere like Guatape or the beach.

Analogy: I try not to assume well off people from any City when going out into the woods always go glamping. Maybe a tent and a sleeping bag and connecting with the raw somewhat dangerous nature of it all is exciting to some. To others maybe not.
You can find loud, obnoxious, poorly educated gringos, with no class and poor hygiene, anywhere. If you're anywhere in Medellin, and you hear people conversing in English, there's a fair chance you'll hear something which fits into 1 of the categories above. Talk to 20 random gringos, probably 1 will have bad breath, body odor, or enough cologne to pose a health hazard. You can find them in Provenza and Parque Lleras, or in El Centro.

Poorly educated has no connection to the level of education completed. Read the forum and tell me I'm wrong. The post which started all this, which mentioned high school dropouts, appears to have been written by a low achieving 12 year old. Run it by your favorite 6th grade English teacher and watch the red pen go to work. The follow-up posts claiming a definite correlation between low class and preference for El Centro are nothing more than poorly disguised bigotry and bigotry can only exist by embracing ignorance.

Instead of posting your beliefs on the inferiority of people who have different preferences, why not post something useful? Where do you eat? What shopping do you do? What have you learned that helps you connect with the girls? What problems have you experienced and how did you overcome them? If you've spent more than a few weeks in Medellin, you should have some knowledge, which others can use to improve their visit.

And isn't helping others better than insulting people you know nothing about?

    I'll start.

If I'm staying in an apartment, I'll usually cook breakfast. Fry some eggs, slice an avocado, and wash it down with some juice. Lunch I take at any Colombian restaurant, with a menu of the day. You should have no trouble finding something for under 25 k (when I started, 12-15 k was high end). That's your choice of pork chicken or beef, usually with rice, some type of potato, possibly yuca (edible drywall), a small salad, maybe a choice of soup or beans, and either juice or guandolo. It's just a simple meal, cheap and easy.

Talking to the girls, throw out a few compliments. Most will eat it up. Don't waste a lot of time getting to know them. If you're talking to a girl 6 months before your trip, you'll probably be disappointed. Make contact, let them know when you're coming and move on until you're on the way.

If you've got some special girls and want to make their stay more memorable, get a Disney+ subscription and bring a jar of bread and butter pickles (I wrap the jar in bubble wrap and put it in a zip lock bag in my checked bag). The pickles are like candy and Disney can be streamed in Spanish with English subtitles (or vice versa).

What useful tips do you have?
