As a US citizen, I would like to check out Tiraspol and Bender myself, but the US government recommends that no US citizen enter Transnistria and the US Embassy in Moldova won't be able to help you if something happens there.

Especially when you are advising mongers to enter a country that has Russian soldiers stationed in it, under such a turbulent time as this. I have been to Tiraspol not too long ago and agree it was cheap and somewhat peaceful. However it was a terrible city for mongering, I had much more fun in Ukraine and no way would I go back to Tiraspol now with all the stuff Putin and the Russian army are doing.

Before Romania joined the EU (an extremely long time ago) places like Moldova, Tiraspol and even Romania where a bit better for mongering but now that Romania has joined the EU. All the women basically left through Romania and they only come back to showoff how rich / educated they now are. A Transnistrian citizen has dual citizenship and since Romania gives out passports like candy, a lot of citizens use it to travel.

That makes sense. I am planning to travel to Chisinau, Moldova and I am considering making a stop in Tiraspol, Transnistria. I believe that the era of 1990's Eastern Europe has passed, and it is unlikely for me to come across a vulnerable girl who would agree to be a temporary girlfriend for a very low price. - Cheap city for rent and daily living expenses.

- Population of less than 200,000. - With a population so small there's not many hookers. With that small of a population, people (women) are very concerned about their reputation. You are not going to find a woman that has a normal job or studies and is willing to hook up with a foreigner for cash and be his regular hooker.

- No foreigner or tourist advantage. If you can't speak Russian verbally, you are going to stand out even more and the women will know what you are doing there. It just won't be a productive trip mongering wise.

- Nothing to do mongering wise or tourist wise.

I was advised not to go there but I went anyway, I cut my losses after realizing that Tiraspol was dreadful mongering wise and moved to another country.
