I totally disagree. Compared to September and June last year, when I was here a couple of weeks as well, I have received (and still receive), way more likes and messages. I finally got around to taking a deeper dive into Soi 6 and my takeaway is relevant to posts about this drink only crap. . . . It makes me wonder if the main type of punter is content buying rack after rack of shots for random Isaan girls while pretending to enjoy Connect Four. I mean did you guys know that we used to have an expectation that these girls would be fucking us? That was the main point of Soi 6. . . . I hope you like Connect 4 and competing with Koreans for who can waste the most money on girls that are never going to have sex with you.

I think we can all agree the girls and the bars are very clever about doing the absolute minimum that they can get away with, while still making enough money to get by. In theory the customers control this. Back In The Day, the clientele was homogeneous in their demographics and demands. (This was especially true of the ex-pats.) They knew what they wanted, they knew the going rate and they would brook no sass. The folks on Soi Six might have been able to get over every now and then at the margin. (Usually when a drunk guy settled for an experience he didn't really want, or a girl that fell short of his spec.) But by and large, the girls and the bar owners knew the score and met the demands of their regular clientele.

I realize that this isn't an original thought, but I think the internet spoiled the fun. The number of guys who knew about Soi Six increased exponentially, and some fraction of them found their way to the bars in person. These customers were a very diverse lot. Lots of them didn't know how Soi Six was "supposed" to work. Lots of them knew, but didn't care. Eventually the girls and the bar owners discovered there were customers who were willing to pay FAR above the going rate for sex. (And as Mr. Sopheni laments, willing to settle for the sexual equivalent of a "short pour.") There were also new customers who were happy to pay Soi Six prices for sex-adjacent services. And there were even guys who were happy to just sit and drink with their mates. Perhaps the Soi Six vibe was enough entertainment for them. Perhaps some of them were part of that younger generation of guys who seem less interested in sex. Who knows?

It really doesn't matter. Because the girls and the bar owners are a clever adversary. They work on Soi Six every single day. As the naughty boys come and go, they have become adept at sussing out how to extract maximum money for minimum sex. So long as the demographics of the patrons continues to expand, so long as their demands for sex continue to drop, the folks who run Soi Six and who work there are going to charge more money for less naughty.

There is a constant turn-over in that soi. Girls come and go pretty quickly for diverse reasons it seems. Nightwish seems to be the most powerfull force to bring new girls in, their touts are doing a good job of attracting new talent over facebook or instagram. But it seems that many of them are thrown in without a proper understanding of what they have to do to succeed. Inevitably a lot of them quit after a few weeks or months because they didn't expect it to be that hard (they cannot succeed in making their drink quotas, they are not able to learn English, don't like to have sex with random guys or whatever else reasons). That's why so many of them are inexperienced or "drink only". The ones able to make it are the cuties that relate only on drinks, and the average looking ones who learned to be patient and learned how to sip drinks from customers from time to time and probably get a few regulars, plus the freelancers who rely almost exclusively on ST and LT (maybe you need to meet some of these to get a better sex experience).

I agree that most ladies seem to be desperate for customers. Never ever before have I received so many likes and mails in Thai Friendly in my first 24 hours in town. It was unbelievable. It already started when the bus from Bangkok had barely reached the city limits, around 1 PM. And it went on and on. By midnight I had dozens of them.
