Hopefully the world will be my oyster! However, how much USD would you expect to spend for 7 nights of fun in the city? Looking at some of the reports, seems like a two to three hundred per night is not out of the ordinary. Is that accurate? We are staying near Thermae, and will plan on doing most of the shopping in that area. On an earlier query, it was suggested about 1500 for 20 days, but after seeing bar fines, prices and an a possible trip to Maria, seems like that is a bit on the light side. Thanks for the advice!

I am not so sure that in the west you'the get such a friendly welcome and info exchange if approaching a girl standing somewhere outdoor (what for? Waiting for a friend? A date? A farang to hook up with? Having a break? Waiting for a taxi?) . Especially if there is a significant age difference.

Maybe it all went well because of the Asian attitude. Hence I think you can't compare this with west. Where the girl would have turned her head, looked at you as an inferior human being, feeling harassed etc.

I don't get the attitude you say from Western girls. I did approach a beautiful western woman (again, about 20 years younger than me) sitting outside a massage "spa" next to the gym I was about to enter a few days ago. She was indeed completely disinterested, but that was all there was to it.

I attribute much of the warmer welcome to the added one or two points I think us white folks get here (excluding the smelly drunks in the wife-beaters). I have no doubt that if you look like Henry Cavill, the girl you mentioning turning her head away would be all smiles and giggly from the point you said "Hello". Regarding meeting regular girls, it's like in the west, but on the 1-10 scale, if you're white and normal looking, you can add a point or two for yourself. E.g. today walking towards Benchakitti park up Suk. 21, I saw a rather tall and pretty girl standing outside some large building. I backtracked and chatted with her a bit, exchanged contact info, and maybe yes, maybe no, we will end up in bed together. Just like in the west.

In places like Terminal 21 and Benchakitti park one sees several Thai female, Frarang male couples. The sheer number of couples makes me feel like I'm doing something wrong as all I seem to be able to get is the transactional ST / LT which is unfulfilling to me. I don't really feel like a stud walking around with a girl on my arm who I'm paying for and I feel like there must be some secret sauce that some of these guys are using when I observe the real, genuine chemistry they have with their beautiful dates. It really gets down to whether you are looking for sex or a relationship. Both are available, but at different places. The same goes for the girl. Respect goes far in Thai culture.

Of course I've done my research here and going to hit Billboard and Butterflies. Prob Poseidon for soapie etc. But we also want easy going daytime activity. I lived in Thailand (not Bangkok) before, and after living here I think it's fairly easy for me most us to quickly make a fairly accurate guess regarding what is a regular couple, and what is not. Especially when
the "not" is your average run of the mill bargil.

E.g. today I was running in Benchakitti and of the one or two handful of farang/thai couples I saw, I would only think one of the girls were a ho. I think in Benchakitti and similar places, that's pretty
normal ratio.

In terminal 21, the ratio is quite different, and I see many farangs with their 'ho in tow. At least 3/10 are 'hos I'd guess, though I'm not spending a lot of time in terminal 21, so could be more.

I also saw a trio of girls in Benchakitti once I finished running today, two of who were quite hot, one I'd rate a 9, and her older friend 8 (would be a 9 too if younger). I did not have any luck with them though. :-/ In the west, I'd be batting out of my league with them, especially taking into account I'm at least 20 years older than any girl I find attractive enough to approach and never did look much like Adonis.

Both tinder and thaifriendly works (I've had more than one girl just show up at the condo I'm renting, and I'm still seeing them now and then), but there's also a fair amount of time-wasting 'hos who don't tell me their 'hos until several messages have been exchanged and it's time to meet, which always pisses me off. Are you living there or visiting? It makes a difference and really it is no different there than in the west. You will only date prossies if your way of finding a GF is in brothels, working girl websites, dating sites known for whoring, and sugar daddy sites. When I lived in BKK and workign it was easy to get dates with regular ladies. Always had a normal GF and on the side filled my boots with the other ladies.

Sorry for what might seem a stupid question, but based on a few recent reports on experiences in the High end Soapies like Maria's, Poseidon etc I now have my doubts, if anyone in the know has a moment to clarify.

I assumed that the main feature in the high-end soapies is that you get lathered up with soap in the shower or bath and then have a good frolic on a inflatable mat on the floor covered in soap?

I've only been a handful of times as a white westerner. My take, they are basically high end brothels and straight up professional. The place isn't just clean, it looks cool, nice furniture, good decor, occasionally artwork with a full bar and maybe a restaurant. The room will often a have a full bed, bath and soapy message. Maybe a TV too if you want to watch a movie and a phone for room service. Think higher end Hilton or Marriott quality. And obviously all the girls look good and you *hopefully* get along well. Probably 5k baht minimum. I found almost everyone attractive.

The downside is that it's not cheap, it's a bit complicated as a westerner and you are kind of taking a gamble. Much of the information online is old and out of date, you have to just go to the club. Once there you basically just pick and go to the room but it can be an amazing experience with the right one. If anyone knows anything else, please share. These places are pretty great.
