Planning to visit Medellin in Sept 2nd week. I went to Medellin few times so far and it was always a great experience. I stayed in Laureles, San Peters Apartments all of the times and I know the area pretty well. But this time I am planning to stay in El Poblado, can anyone please suggest any girl friendly hotels in that area or Airbnbs that you are aware of, looking for one with a Jacuzzi. A better way would be to put 2 K in your brokerage account (or 1k and raise your ATM limit to 2K per day). You were required to open a brokerage account to get the Schwab card. Then you can transfer money into the Schwab bank when necessary. MAKE sure you turn off the overdraft transfer from your brokerage account. Another problem is that you can't transfer money on the weekends.

Wait. I guess that wouldn't work in your description because they have access to the Schwab account. It would list the brokerage account. I take mine off in my second phone. There exchange rates are always good. Just check it in your hotel room.

When I travel I use my Charles Schwab debit card. Reason 1: it refunds me for additional POS fees. I do not know how they can do it without losing money, but they do it. Reason 2: I do not want to have my main account debit card with me, in case of issue they can potentially take a lot of my money. On Charles Schwab, instead, I keep at max 2-3 thousands USD. I keep the other Credit and Debit card in the hotel safe, or hidden somewhere, but not with me unless I need.

Whenever I can I use Davivienda Cajeros. I never had any issue with them.

Confirmed: Always refuse the proposed exchange rate. In Colombia most bank will continue with the transaction with no issue, and Davivienda is one of them. This is not true in other countries, for instance all the 7/11 ATM in Thailand (at least the 10 I tested) refuse the transaction if you do not accept their conversion. Charles Schwab sends me a text with the USD amount in real time, and the exchange rate is always very close to the google online exchange value. The difference is negligible.

Finally, I also uninstall my home banking apps from my phone except for the Charles Schawab one. Why? Well, 2 reasons: (1) If a criminal take me in his custody, he could force me to login my smartphone. If your phone has face recognition, this is extremely easy and you might be even unaware of it (a little bit of benzodiazepine from a girl and you sleep deeply while she scans your face)..

3 k is a lot to allow criminals to take. 1000 max. The rest in another checking account that isn't on your phone. You can do a transfer between banks if you need to replenish Schwab or you get robbed.
