Your experiences at the airport mirror mine. I consistently arrive late due to the airline schedule. Have the same problem with the hustle. I am not going to going to fuck around over a few dollars. I am long past worrying about that in order to facilitate my personal comfort.

Posts: 3802What happens late at night if there is only one white taxi available, or only a few, some will ask for more then the posted rate as you mentioned and will blow you off if you don't take it, so in some instances doesn't matter how you approach them.

I didn't want to screw around over about $ 2 USD at 2 AM in the morning and just wanted to climb in the sack.
If there had been more than one taxi driver available I might have raised hell, but sometimes they will all try to hose you as this happens a lot with the yellow taxis like in and around Zona Rosa and at the Poblado Metro station if there is a shortage of taxis, especially if your a foreigner, and a Friday or Saturday night.
I Just recently got in a yellow cab at the Poblado Metro Station, and was headed up towards the Tesoro area and the driver gave me a fixed price when I asked him to turn on the meter so I just got out of the cab and found another one. If you are able to pick up a yellow taxi at a designated pick up spot for them, like at EXITO in Pobaldo, they won't try to pull a stunt like that.
This past Monday I had a flight out of Medellin and reserved a pick up in Poblado, with the same white taxi company that works out of Rio Negro and the posted rate on their website for pick up from Medellin to Rio Negro was only 90 K, and they were very punctual.
And as far as the posted rate of 98 K well as some may not be aware of, that's the posted rate from portions of Medellin like Poblado posted in all the yellow taxis.
And sometimes at the airport when there are no taxis available that sometimes occurs during the day, you will have to wait for one to show up and will be paying 98 K but again have to wait a awhile so you can always go to the departure level and look for someone being dropped off and snag a ride.
I have only had to do this on one occasion, and as an example, if it's a yellow taxi they will be happy to take you because they are not licensed to pick up passengers at the airport so they just return to the City as the 98 K fare actually includes the toll fare both ways.

Posts: 1158Only if you paid with a credit or debit card, and you still may not get it. My neighbor filed the papers at the airport more than three years ago for taxes the hotel and other miscellaneous places charged. She still hasn't received a refund, nor any communication from the tax department.

Posts: 240When this happens to you, you can just fill out a form at exit and the government will refund you the VAT tax. This is the main reason the hotel collects and copies your passport and entry stamp, legal evidence as to why they did not collect VAT tax. This applies to almost every country in the world. Avianca has a page specific to Colombia on the process: https://www.avianca.com/co/en/before...es-tax-refund/.

Posts: 240As stated in this forum many times, the current white taxi rate to the city from the airport is $98 k COP, which everyone rounds up to $100 k. Some users have reported that late night arrivals can get hustled to $120 K COP, but that could be a confidence / approach issue. It is posted in a big sign where you pick up your luggage and also at the airport's website: https://www.aeropuertorionegro.co/we...C3%B3mo-llegar.

My suggestion would be to have your "favorita" supply you with the Doctor's quote, and as far credit cards, yes most accept them but a lot also prefer electronic transfers into their bank accounts.
Hopefully she will have a nice ass to grab when the procedure is done and she has healed. LOL.

Posts: 240$9,500 USD? That's more than a US doctor & hospital would charge for implant removal.

Posts: 1158Tourists (travelers who stay 180 days or less in one calendar year) are not supposed to have to pay the VAT tax. The one and only time I stayed at the Mansion, they charged a VAT tax and would not take it off even after I questioned it. They claimed the exemption only applies to new hotels, which is pure BS.

Posts: 2125Regardless of whether or not that is the going rate (which it probably isn't) you would be the biggest simp of 2023 if you sent that kind of money to her. It would be much cheaper to just block her and let natural selection run its course. But hey it's your money, go ahead and simp it off.

I dislike FB so much that I haven't used it in probably 10 years, but with this report, I might have to reconsider that opinion!

Background:
Favorita I have known 14+ years got a butt augmentation almost a decade ago. Now, it is going bad. She tells me the surgeon wants COP 40 million to remove the polymers, keep them from migrating, and hide the suture scars in the butt crack.
Questions:
Granted, the procedure would involve a hospital surgical suite, an hour or more under anesthesia, etc. , but is this the going rate down there?
Is it normal that surgeons would not accept credit cards for procedures?

Posts: 40Must be the dates, as I saw the same prices I quoted to you this morning. $94 a night (on average) for an 8-night say from Dec. 5th to 13th for the Marquesses (which is a suite, no balcony). But $113 a night if just on the weekend. Smallest rooms are roughly $20 less in both instances. Doesn't include the VAT, but I don't believe that apples to foreigners (and the site says it does not, but I could be misinterpreting). But anyway, I'm not trying to be their shill. Duparc looks nice. I just personally find access to the the types of atmosphere I prefer (restaurants, cafes, bars) to be better where Haven is (although I'm also going to consider Click Clack this time around. But that is more expensive and I believe you have to pay for visitors). I'm so looking forward to getting back down there.

Posts: 98The prices change daily like flights do. Not nearly as much. I wanted a certain hotel near a disco in a small town that first listed $18, then $20, then hit $33, now back down to $19. All in a 7 day time frame.

Posts: 293Hey there JC. I rechecked several dates via end of November and December and found that the least expesive room is about 110 per night, not 80 dollars. But, I do find that price to be not so bad for the quality of the hotel. I was able to actually get a room for about 120 at DuParc and got a free upgrade as I have stayed there before several times so it worked out. Thanks.
