It's just this stupid travel company in my country of residence that is asking the information about the second occupant.

Trying to WARN you guys regarding Sydney afro who's getting famous nowadays in this forum. After so much hearing about her I decided to plan a visit to Sydney few days back. I'm visiting India next month and am just in the process of booking hotels, in Delhi I'll be staying in a 5 star in Aerocity.

I phoned a company I usually use for family holidays etc and said I wanted a double occupancy room. They informed me that for double occupancy room they will need the name of the other person.

Obviously I can't give a name!

Goes without saying that I won't be using this company and will look at booking directly with the hotel. However it has made me wonder. When I check in will they ask for details of the other occupant?

How does one work around this?

Not necessarily. You can say my friend would join later. But you would need to give ID and all when she arrives.
