Your facial expressions and body language will say far more than any words can, because words are often lies and contrived and body language usually the truth.

Most importantly learn to smile and make appropriate eye contact.

Google body language / non verbal cues. You can make someone feel more relaxed and comfortable before you even open your mouth. When she feels more relaxed she might initiate the conversation herself. Pay compliments, we all like those.

I don't use any of this for mongering as I don't feel the need to but I know many people who use these tools in their professional life and also when trying to pick up chicks for non paid sex.
