Now searching for a car rental company that allows the cross the border with the same rental terms, it seems I have to park on one side and arrange a pvt transport both ways.

There should not be any problems driving across the bridge to Bahrain. When you go through the customs on the Saudi side, just have your passports and valid visas. The Bahrain side cares more about car insurance than anything else, so have the insurance and car registration papers available. If the car agency prohibits the car from going to Bahrain, the Saudi border guards will not let you leave, but check with the car agency when you hire the car. When coming back to Saudi Arabia, do not bring any alcohol or pork products, because they will arrest people for bringing back alcohol.

The other fairly risk free option is travel by saptco manama bus as separately seated independent solo passengers.

The bus is time consuming and needless to say boring bloody long 5 hrs.

Yes it's possible. From personal experience. No questions asked as long as the visa was valid and car papers were in order including insurance. It was an online evisa. Good luck.

I had two days in Khobar so I tried some ads in MR. Some were obvious scams, but I found one with a place near my hotel. It turns out all the ads are by brokers and they refer you to a hotel or apartment with girls. None of the phone numbers are for the girls themselves. Just an update, I was in Riyadh for 2 weeks in Sept staying in popular hotel chain.

I see that are really relaxing rules (incl head scarf coverage) and employing aplenty young asian girls (mostly philipinos / Indonesians) in all departments including front desk and restaurants.
