I think it would depend greatly on when you were visiting. Pre-covid, there were virtually no restrictions on guests, either from the residence or the owner. During covid, obviously everything changed. From covid-start of early 2020, thru 2021, you were going to be shut down on guests almost anywhere, and that included many hotels. Some hotels even went to 1 guest per room policies, so if you showed up with your wife, she had to have a separate room.
