First time in Bali and from what I have seen some parts reminds me of Issan (Thailand). Lots of Moto Bikes and traffic like in Vietnam and Cambodia. My Grab driver is quite knowledegable and introduced me to a nice chick who was very reasonable. These drivers appear to be a good source of information for people who are curious. It sounds like you're really picky, so if you want to find the perfect place, your best bet is to just get a hotel for one night and then walk around the area you want to stay in once you arrive and check a bunch of hotels out in person.

My other recommendation would be an Airbnb villa a little bit away from the action and rent a bike. IMO that is the way to go. Having a bike makes getting around much easier here and then you can broaden your search, which will reduce issues such as noise, privacy & staff. For 150 bucks a night you can get a 2 bedroom villa.

I guess I'm stuck in Kuta in a sketchy hotel, unfortunately. I'm not keen on riding a bike in an unfamiliar city, especially when I'm used to driving on the right side of the road in the United States, and they drive on the left in Bali. I did consider booking a hotel outside the perimeter of the Kuta river, but decided against it because it would be too long to walk, and I didn't want to deal with cabs all the time.

I finally settled (grudgingly) on a budget hotel called 'Siesta Legian Hotel'. It's close to Jln Legian and it seems to avoid most of the issues I described. The thing is, I was was reading some reviews recently, and some people are complaining that the staff are 'thieves and cheats'. They claim they've had money stolen from their room, and one guy said that he wasn't given the room he paid for (this is concerning because I purchased their 'suite'.

I would have no problem spending up to $150/ night to get a room that meets all my criteria, but I've screened dozens of hotels on multiple sites and came up with nothing.

Any input?

I visited only two locations during my trip a few months ago, wanted to share.

RPS Spa Bali

This visit was arranged through Telegram where they seem the most active (not hard to find). While they do accommodate walk-ins, the more sought after individuals are typically pre-booked by locals. The TG account frequently posts daily stories featuring the girls available.

The prices are quite high, and the value does not compare to what one might find in Jakarta. Initially, I had not planned to visit a spa in Bali, but the temptation was too much.

From a Telegram group, I received a recommendation for Billa, a girl noted for her curvier figure and impressive riding skills, so I decided to book her and made my way there. The spa is situated on a relatively quiet street, away from the busy areas.

A helpful tip: the Platinum /120-minute option only allows for one shot, so in retrospect, I would have opted for the 60/90-minute package.

I had to wait for about 30 minutes as she was running late, and the mamasan offered to switch me to another girl, but I chose to be patient. The facilities were not the best; while there was a proper bed, the shower left much to be desired. It resembled a crackhouse, though not excessively dirty, if that makes sense.

Flame Spa Seminyak

Sadly, this place was raided and closed down in September, but here's hoping it makes a comeback. Definitely a place you had to try once.

Before entering, you had to secure your belongings in a locker, so there was no chance to sneak a quick Instagram or WhatsApp message to the therapist.

I had a therapist named Joselyn, chosen from a fishbowl-like selection. I appreciated her chatty nature, which made the 90-minute massage much more enjoyable compared to an awkward silence. I opted for the Jacuzzi room, which turned out to be a great choice. Despite her slim build, she was incredibly skilled and knew just the right spots to focus on, and the nuru gel and massage was fantastic! Flame Spa may have charged a premium, but the quality of service was definitely worth it. You got a handjob at the end but a very, very good one. I do wish I had asked for her Instagram handle and looked it up afterward just one of those little regrets in life.

After the session, they had a bar where you could relax while chatting up and watching the pole dancers, which was a nice way to unwind.

Of all my experiences in Indonesia, this one stands out the most, even though it wasn't an FS experience. I can't help but think the raid might have been a setup or due to someone not paying off the right people.

The Pink Palace "spa" probably didn't help matters, as it was quite obvious they were hinting at FS.
