I don't know you personally so I have no basis to talk about you. When it comes to Centro rats, the shoe fits and I wear it. I don't however stay in hotels in Medellin. I agree with you that it is better to move discreetly.

If you are talking about me personally then you are dead wrong. Shortest Medellin trip I took was my first trip to Colombia in Medellin for one month around 6 years ago and I started my Colombian journey at Centro. Plus, my last trip was 6 months last year with most of that time in Medellin.

All true Centro rats stay in hotels within 5 blocks of Centro. Real rats eat, sleep, and hunt in Centro.

You post so much but have not learned the foundations needed to build true knowledge. There is and never will be a magic full proof bullet to keep you safe, only different levels of safety. Such as sourcing your girl through a casa, strip club, or massage parlor. They will normally take all the heat from the police and not you. I knew several girls with fake IDs and owns that used their older sisters ID. Easy for the girl to remember all her older sisters information since sisters share just about everything and usually have the same eyes so near impossible to tell the ID does not belong to the younger sister. I learned all my info in the Philippines. Had a police setup done on me and taken to the CIDG (PH FBI) station which was known for setups. Spent 10 hours there before they let me go. I paid nothing because I never touched the girl and I knew my Sht. I should get paid for what I know. I will give you some pointers. First text her you are now staying in a different hotel or apartment nearby and give the fake address and room number. Meet away a block away. Take away their phone so they can not text or call their friend who in turn will call their other friend or family member who is a police officer who is waiting for the call. Tell her she can have it back once you finish and she is outside your place. Walk separately with her in front to avoid stares. If she is behind you she may talk to someone and you would not know it. Never let a lady boy help you find a girl..

I'm trying to look at it from a different perspective. I'm thinking about convenience. You know what the rush hour traffic is like in Medellin. If you are staying in Laureles or Poblado and you dip your toe in the Centro rat lifestyle, you are going to want to get out of Dodge once the sun goes down. That's the heart of rush hour. It's no fun sitting in an uber in rush hour traffic. If I'm here for one or two weeks of my hard earned vacation time I can't imagine letting any of it fritter away while I'm staring at the back of another car listening to reggaeton on a scratch shitty car radio.

Traffic in Medellin has always been bad, but it's gotten ridiculously worse. Then there is always the wild card. Case in point, last night I was leaving a party and the other side of the street was backed up a block and a half. I asked the Uber driver what was going on and he told me Saturday night sobriety check. He said they know just about everyone leaving La 70 has been drinking.

Leaving San Diego last week and saw my Uber wasn't moving. I walked up the block and saw that the yellow cabs were protesting the platforms and had traffic at a virtual halt.

It's always something besides the usual traffic, accidents and rush hour grind. Mongering can definitely be hampered, if you have to commute.

I don't think you will ever get convicted if you can show proof of you doing your due diligence. Ask a girl about her age on WhatsApp and save / screenshot her response. Also ask for a picture of her ID and save / screenshot it as well. Or ask to check it in person and take a pic.

I personally haven't crossed this line yet, BUT there are women here in Colombia who are "grannies" who are barely past 30 years old.

This is 100% my experience. Get out of Poblado and its another world. You can be the only gringo around if you go to certain neighborhoods. I've spent some time in parts of Bello including the nicer shopping malls and I felt like I was in another world than Poblado. But as rice rocket used to say, definitely don't go there as you'll definitely have a horrible time and be killed. But I do think guys need good Spanish and some local contacts to make the most and be safest throughout the city, especially barrios populares. With girls it's the same thing.

I will go as far as to say Poblado and Provenza were ruined by passport bros. Believe it or not, they really aren't a factor in all but that small area of the city. To be fair, they are a huge factor in that area of the city. It's jarring for somebody like me who is rarely there except for dinner out at a restaurant. Anytime I'm there after 9 PM or so, wow, it's so unlike the pre-pandemic Medellin. They aren't even a big factor in Centro. But I get your point. For many visitors Poblado and Provenza is Medellin and the rest of the city does not exist. I'm OK with it.

I would (I do) stay in Centro until time comes for getting ready for dinner (8pm). Things get more interesting after dark. Then, walk until San Antonio and hop on the first cab, which will have the way straight to Poblado. This of course applies only to those with enough acquaitance with the area, not naif passport bros.

By the way, I do not consider myself as a "rat", I stay in Poblado / Oviedo, I enjoy the comfort of my 4-star hotel, I go to good restaurants because a need a rewarding dinner (inexpensive in Medellin yet so good), but I have always found my best girls in Centro or in San Diego. And, yes, before COVID I was used to walk around bars there until 2am.

The problem is that even if ID is real, it might not be theirs. Happens all the time. Girls all look alike on IDs and it is difficult to find out if the person standing in front of you is indeed the person on ID.

There are no 8's, 9's, or 10's on ID cards. You are seeing the real person, not their filters or alter egos.

The answer I was looking for from MB1 was something along the lines of use a place similar to classic (where I'm at right now as I type this). Obviously if your are inside an establishment the girls who are 18 have to really be 18.

I personally don't understand why anyone who comes here for a few days at a time and who stays in Poblado would spend the time it takes to navigate Centro when you can walk a few steps to Lleras and point and click your way to a date. A few hundred dollars over a week or two is a drop in the bucket when you think about the up to $2,000 it cost for airline, hotel, and food over a short trip.

All the guys I knew at that time had all been set up. I knew a guy who was setup 3 times that I know of. I am in the top 5% who did not pay. So many stories.

It always amazes me about all the idiots that take girls in Centro. It is so damn simple. DO AS THE LOCALS DO! The girl walks to the hotel and the local guy follows her at a distance. But not the foreigner idiots. They want to be seen with the girl almost holding hands with her going to the hotel so everybody knows what is going on. I know it is no secret but you should never announce it.

You don't understand that because you are paying $2,000 for your airline, hotel and food for a "short trip" and that's not necessary if you're a Centro rat. Enables you to make more trips. Plus even if we did pay $2,000 for those three things, we'd still want to pay reasonable prices for the fourth thing, the fifth thing, etc. That's not sound logic. "I don't understand why people who've already spent a lot of money don't want to spend more money. " That would be somewhat like saying why bother to use public transportation since you already paid a lot for a flight. Hmm maybe you think that way.

Yes, medellin has been ruined by gringos and passport bros. Its a shame, but it happens. Lets hope Trump legalizes prostitution and the passport bros stay home. LOL.

I won't speak for anyone else. I think there is already way more of that on the site than is useful. In my possibly isolated Centro rat case, I honestly don't care what anyone pays. I prefer everyone pay based on informed decisions but that's up to them. I'm not into schadenfreude, so I don't take pleasure in anyone else's disadvantage. What makes my heart smile is an enjoyable bang. At whatever price. Once again, it's only me and everyone's tastes and situations are their own. If I felt like I was having more enjoyable experiences or even more variety by paying the going rate at ostensibly more upscale venues, I would not hesitate to do it. To be honest, every so often I do it just to break the routine. So far, and I've been at this more than a little while, I haven't had the desire to shift gears. I could go the seeking arrangement / facebook / Lleras route exclusively without noticing the financial uplift. I don't do it because I know from practical experience I don't find it more interesting or otherwise more worthwhile. My way is to break up the Centro rat routine with Laureles, LOS Colores, and Centro casas and probably a couple of times a month mileroticos & other online girls.

It does make ones heart smile when one believes that one is banging chicas for one fifth the price that other gringos are paying.
