So why not just approach chicks you see during the day? You are bound to see way more than you would in a night club.

Don't read this if you get offended easily as I don't want to hear how I should be loving this place or how I should man up and stop complaining, I can already feel the negative comments coming. But I want to share how I feel anyway as it is fresh in my mind.

I'm not really liking it that much from what I can see so far, but I will probably stick out my 2 months here.

I've been spoiled to have spent so much time in south east Asia and specifically Thailand, where I'm wishing I was back there. This is not for the girls, but the infrastructure. This place is worse than the Philippines and Cambodia, its very third world.

    1) Transportation and traffic make it seem difficult to get around. I can't take public transportation or rent a cheap scooter so daily traveling anywhere far is difficult. I like to daily, go to the mall, go to the gym, go food shopping, I don't want to pay an uber to do this every day. Actually, I hate paying taxis in general.

    2) Food is expensive, and you don't want to eat where the locals eat, it is downright scary to do that. This isn't a problem if you are coming for a week and will eat at the hotel and restaurants, but for 2 months I don't want to pay $10 a meal.

I actually brought with me a sous vide cooker to cook meat as I do the keto diet. You have to see the meat they sell here, it is disgusting and the way they store it scares me. Some of it is browning on display. I'm afraid to go into a butcher shop as I may never wan to eat meat again.

    3) Gyms with free weights seem hard to find, and are way spread out. Plus, in the reviews they want you to sign up for 6 months, no cheap rates for this for shorter durations. I don't even know how locals can afford them. Plus, with how everything is spread out here, I would have to travel like 10 miles and with the traffic, not something I want to do.

    4) I dream about being in Pattaya, not for the girls but for the malls, the safe walking, the cheap baht bus, the gyms I like, the atmosphere, walking around at night. Going to the movies, eating at my favorite local place or the cheap food court in the new malls. I didn't realize how good I had it in Pattaya, who cares about girls when you can live in such a nice city, I think that is more important to me at the end of the day as getting away from the cold winter is why I make these travels.

The weather is so nice here in Mombasa, which just reminds me of what I'm missing in Thailand.

    5) It is scary to walk around, not that I ran into trouble yet. I have to admit, I'm scared, when I walk down empty streets and see young males walking by me or sitting around, I think are they going to rob me. I already heard stories about someone friend who had their phone stolen twice. I also heard about the police corruption and someone already told me they got extorted for 25,000 KES for passing someone over a solid road marker.

Hotel staff told me not to walk to the beach after 6 pm, and are warning me to be careful in general.

    6) While I get a lot of likes on badoo, it seems its difficult to get responses after that. I'm getting the impression its not so easy to meet girls online as you think, unless of course you get an obvious prostitute.

I'm starting to think maybe for what I'm looking for I'm better off going to night clubs, where I can pre-screen the girls. This makes me think I should just go to Nairobi.

Someone did tell me that they went to a night club here in Mombasa and the girls were lining up to meet him as he was a white foreigner. Maybe I should consider going this route.

The issue I see is how will I know what the girl is like by meeting them online, you have to meet them first, so why not go to a night club?
You are in Mombasa, where in Mombasa, in which area? In the beach hotel in which beach?

I go to night clubs and bars, there are lot of girls. If you spend enough time in area, you start to know most of them, maybe all of them. You need to know right day to go to right club, but that is fast to learn, there are not so many night clubs in Mombasa area. Or let's say there are not so many night clubs that are popular, people go to just a few places.

Kenya is quite developed compared to other African countries.

Public transportation. Easiest and cheapest is to use motobike taxis, I am using them all the time but all the time I am also scared.

Actually, don't apologize for giving your opinion, that's what the forum is for, boots on the ground information. My first time in Kenya was not great either. I really thought long and hard about making Kenya my home, but the infrastructure is also too much to overcome for me as well. I got tired of being stared at when trying to make a simple purchase in a store. Trying to overcome the ignorance of some people. I didn't like the traffic in Nairobi, the cop stopping me for a bribe with a huge silver AK-47 in my overpriced car rental. I didn't like the cop coming into my building and shooting his GF, and then himself in front of her child in Nakuru. All the potholes, the horrible food disguised as delicious Nymo Choma, yuck! On and on, I have stories of horrible service, no available gym, horrible shopping, etc. I also have stories of sweet Kenya puddy almost being worth all the bad shit, so I keep coming back for more!

Pattaya has it's ups and downs as well, but its quite comfy and spoils you. Who the hell are they fooling saying those lying, ran through Isaan hoes are wifey material! At least in MBA I don't have to wait in line of every race of man in the world for an average used up Thai hoe. Don't just sit there and bad mouth Mombasa for two months, Uganda and Tanzania are on either side of you, so go check them out as well. In fact, you have all of Africa to check out. No need in enduring what you don't like, and you really got to love Black puddy and the game of getting it in Africa. If you don't then just admit that to yourself and go back to Pattaya.

The Great Scholar of Afro Culture

Unfortunately just like the rest of Africa prostitution is largely an unprofitable business in Kenya. With a declining tourism industry, paying off corrupt cops, pimps and house madam's the average Kenyan woman is left with shit by the end of the night. Kenyan women largely rely on Kenyan men to pay the bills (as in buying pussy) but with a low wage job industry and high inflation Kenyan men only afford to pay so much for sex. On my last trip to Nairobi, half of the women on River Road was letting it go to Kenyan men for 300-500 bob as long as they cover the room fee! My opinion is this Mombasa is no longer the place to be for sex and partying I suggest one go to Nairobi for such activities. If the money isn't good then more women won't come out to play. Most of the women I met in Kenya who work the streets rather put up with sexual harassment on the job than selling pussy to strangers and taking losses of all the dividends I mentioned above and that's including dealing with robbers who pose as potential dates.

I hope this information is helpful.

The thing I've notice is the girls working freelance are in small number. I'll explain there is only like one or to places they go on any given night for example Tuesday the may be at big Tree then Safari Inn but it's the same chicks going from place to place. I'm not really into the online scene but I've looked and there are attractive chicks there.

Had good success using Tinder, which is easiest for the girls, too; for live adventure, either Big Tree, daytime / evening, or Casaurinha, in the night.

I have been in Kenya almost 25 years now. Nightlife is finished in Mombasa. Between 2000-2010 most places were busy night after night and girls were plentiful.

Tembo, Cheers, Mamba, Casarinhas, Bobs. Etc etc.

Since 2010 there has been a decline. I don't bother going out to clubs now as it is a waste of time.

Online or day hunting is where it is at nowadays.

There was some talk of yellow fever vaccine being needed I'm here now and no one asked for it (I do have it) but I'm sure I'll need it to leave as I'm flying Ethiopian airlines back home to Thailand after this and from what I read they require the vaccine if coming from an area with it. Which for all I know Kenya isn't since no one asked for it.

Depends on, what you want. Was there 3 times, not so bad in Cowry Shells. Use Tinder for easy pickup, or visit BigTree. An go to Char-Choma for greatest BBQ.

Maybe Just Need a Good Night Sleep And My Snoot In Some Good Tail

Had this (second) trip to MBA planned for a long time. Changed it a couple times, then at the last minute canceled. But then got bummed I cancelled and went for it in the end.

Been here for 2 days. There's not 10 minutes (edited from 15) that goes by where I'm not thinking what a fucking dump. And if I could just play the tape backwards long enough to correct my miscalculations. Leaving soon as possible would be stupid too since rent and motorbike are already paid and non refundable.

Will update if I manage to get some inner work done and find my way.

Is that from a movie or sonething? I have been living in Thailand for 16 years and have 2 kidneys. You can leave your money out in plain view and those Thai chicks will not touch it.

Forgive me if I intervene in your post but I think as Oiste. I also think you had a bad misadventure with a woman from Kenya and now you hate her all. Mombasa worse than Nairobi? Is it a joke, am I laughing? In Thai you wake up the next morning without a kidney if you’re not careful, so what? Go with the first Mombasa ***** you meet? Well, it’s your business. But don’t generalize. I encourage people not to give too much importance to what you write but...about your misadventure...this woman from Kenya you the swei married at the end?
