EQ did rattled lot of things. First lot of folks staying in high rise were scared to go back. So they were all down standing in streets.

Another thing I realized after talking to most thais is that they do not get EQ's. So this was their first major experience and it was a strong one.

So because of this I saw hotel staff sitting out for 3-4 hours.

Major traffic jam as the stopped BTS and it was very congested with all traffic stuck. So bars that were open remained open but all MP's, nana and soi that open like 3 pmll till 8 pm decided to skip / stay closed.

My guess is people were unable to make it because of congestion and traffic so the establishments decided to close.

I am on a very high floor of a condo complex that was built a couple of decades ago and there was no structural damage at all. There wasn't even a momentary interruption of electricity, water or internet service. However, I have heard from guys who live in more modern buildings that they had to evacuate and move to a hotel because ceilings were collapsing. If that is how it shapes up for many others it will be interesting to see if this Thai passion to live in the most modern building they can afford rather than one as ancient as 20 years old gets flipped around and changes the market.

Yes, it was sad that the 33 story building under construction collapsed and killed several construction workers. But I think that was the most tragic earthquake-related event in all of Thailand. The death and damage in Myanmar, the epicenter of the quake, was far worse. In fact, I suspect most if not all of the construction workers who died in the collapsed Bangkok building were from Myanmar. Very sad.

As far as how it affected the girls goes, Nana Plaza was closed for that one night. A couple of other Soi 4 bars were closed for that one night. I don't know about Soi Cowboy, the Soi 7 bars or Patpong because I didn't go there. Auto and pedestrian traffic was horrendous that night because the skytrain and mrt subway were both closed for the night.

Oh, one interesting thing about the girls; within an hour of the earthquake I sent out a "You ok"? Line and Instagram message to 5 of my most often repeated Freelancers and gogo girls.
