Will be heading back to Medellin in a couple days. I want to try out a Centro SW for the first time in my 20 odd years of visiting the city. Could any of you Centro veterans recommend the best short time hotel in the area? I don't want to just go with the girl's choice. I want a spacious clean room with clean bathroom and decent bed with clean sheets. Let me know if there is no such hotel in the vicinity, then I will just taxi to a decent one.

Hotel Botero Real if it's just for 30 min.

Hotel paisaje real if you want up to 3 hours.

To the wily veterans in the group, do any of you have experience with the previous downturns in Costa Rica, Sosua, etc.? Are you getting those vibes here in Medellin? It's not the same place it was even just a couple years ago, and certainly not 5, 10, 15 years ago. Maybe I'm jaded, or maybe the writing is on the wall.

I'm sure most have an opinion, but I am specifically hoping to hear from some of the fellas that have seen a once-great destination turn into the dumps.

I started going to CR in 2009 and to Medellin at the end of 2010. I stopped going to CR for mongering in 2016 because the quality of women in Medellin was better than in San Jose. I've been back to San Jose a few times for dental work, but I'm finished with CR dentists now. I started seeing major changes in the Medellin women at least a year ago. I think there is no longer an abundance of young, slim, attractive women. Most of the new women now want 300 to 500 mil pesos plus taxis and require the use of a condom. It's rare I find an attractive young woman on Facebook. Speaking of Facebook, there is something weird going on there. I've been in Medellin two weeks during this trip. I haven't posted anything on Facebook to indicate I'm in Medellin. I've been getting multiple Facebook friend requests every day. A few days ago, I received 24 requests in one day. Most of the women are unattractive or have locked their profiles. Some of the ones I think are attractive, I accept their request and send them a message thanking them for inviting me to be their friend. Nothing else in my message, but many don't respond. I just checked, and today I've received 13 requests and it's not yet 1:30 pm. I still have Facebook friends from the past who are happy with 250 mil pesos.

In my opinion, San Jose is now a wasteland for mongering. I was there for a week early last year, for dental work, and wasn't with any chicas.

I don't think Medellin has turned into a dump. There are still many young, attractive women available at a good price and provide very good service. They're just not as young as they used to be.

Not only that. But I doubt that there is any mongering location in the world that people who visited there 5-15 years ago. Now think has gone down hill. Every place is new and shiny the first times you go.

I concur. I will add that living in Colombia is a game changer vs. Visiting. I visited for 18 years and have lived here full time for two and a half years. I now have a small harum of the finest paisa chicas I have ever been with, girl next door types that are sweet, beautiful and sexy as fuck all, took awhile to weed out the bad apples and mediocre ones but now life is good, very very good.

Hi, what strategy did you use to win over those fine ladies?

Are they 20' 30' years old?

Do you mostly eat in restaurants or uber eats?

I'd say 50/50 for dinner. If I'm with a girl I like but I don't want to take her out to dinner for various reasons, usually too young, but she wants to hang out and order rappi I will do that. A few of my girls are mature enough and dressed appropriately to take out or I will eat out solo. I also eat out all lunches.

I see the immigration lines being posted almost daily. People are waiting 3-4 hours for entry; the majority being men coming down to throw around money without a care in the world. Due to social media, Paisa girls now all see the lucky ones that take off to Europe, Mexico, Brazil, Dubai, etc. They can sit at home and be on OF instead of out on the prowl. Many stick to their hotter friend's price she got one time from some idiot on his first trip. Parque Llleras is almost embarrassing, at this point.

Speaking of the immigration line, the government could make a boat load with an express line; even if you had to pre-register. I'm actually shocked that the shift supervisor doesn't just make one a couple times a day and pay off his crew to keep quiet.

Immigration lines are long but usually not that long. I usually wait about one hour. Yes, a lot of old timers whining and complaining about the way it has changed from 10-15 years ago but most of us have not been coming to Medellin so long. We only know the Medellin the way it has been recently. The reason the immigration lines are so long and so many men are coming is that Medellin is still good. If it wasn't, there wouldn't be so many people coming. As for whether most men spending money like crazy, I don't think you can really gauge that. What is your method of calculating how much most men are spending in Medellin? I just spend what I want to spend and I don't worry about what others are spending. No sense worrying about things out of your control.

Yes, I know that there are some who believe that other men are causing the price they pay to rise but Medellin is a big city and there are many available women.

OldKool you have been stomping around this yard for awhile. You should know how to move abroad even if it is an unfamiliar locale. It shouldn't be difficult to navigate but instead an adventure or maybe in your case, a challenge with some added anxiety. My first time to Colombia (that's Colombia with an "o") was a solo trip to Cartagena. As a matter of fact, I have never traveled to Colombia with anyone or met up with anyone. I don't care about that or where the Gringos are at. All solo trips and to date I have been to 17 different cities in Colombia over the years. It's a great thing to experience and my opinion it's way better than the DR, hands down. I've been there done that and there is no comparison to me.

I was on youtube researching Medellin. I saw a number of reports of guys being drugged and one guys who was kid napped. I travel alone and am a bit concerned about being a lone wolf in Coumbia. The guys were experienced mongers.

Been exploring Colombia for decades, yes you read that right for Decades and living 10 plus years in Medellin so over these years I have forgotten more than what most people including local Colombian know about Colombia including the chicas from every region / department in Colombia.

Having never been to Thailand but have spent enough time in the Philippines to know that simply put Asian girls just don't do it for me, great to have fun with but really nothing special, thin with no beautiful rear ends like here in Latin America, 99.89% with no breast, zero personality, zero charm or playfulness, I guess the proverbial "To each his own" applies here, the Paisa "cuteness factor" can be off the charts, simply incredible.

Certainly I would never ever consider living full time in any Asian countries such as Thailand, no thanks, my gawd I am spoiled in Colombia, the sweetest most charming Paisas that I have encountered in my life, sensual / charming / playful / flirty / sexy / girl next door types / etc. Yes they are hard to find but dang once you click with one or two, I have many over the past decade, you will never look back.

So you all can stick to "safe" but for myself and a handful of others, just a few out of a hundred thousand, just a bit of street smarts and measured reasonableness in living and playing (no drinking, no drugs, no risky behaviors) and learning Spanish, well the world will open up for you.

Its a dangerous place for mongers. I'll be there for the tenth time in a week. You have to know how to operate and be smart. My biggest problems are deciding where to eat and who to see in my 10 days.
