Japan has very hot and humid summers, it is too hot even for local Japanese. People put ice packs inside their backpacks and other tricks, but it's never enough. Meiji Jingu opens around sunrise, about 5am. During the daytime especially mid-day, best to avoid anything extended time outdoors. All shops suddenly crank up the AC in August. You want to take two or three showers a day if you decide to go outside anyways. Walk on the shaded side of the street when you have a choice.

Likewise, Japan has very cold, dry, windy Winters. December-January is just as bad as August if not worse. At least you can do indoor activities in 100 degree summer and take a warm walk late at night. In Winter, you will get sick of every little breeze that blows cold dry air in your face. For some people, it causes skin problems.

For me, June's my limit where I can say "this is okay" especially if it's a cloudy day. Well, people are still going to go I understand. But mid March to mid June is reasonable, same for fall which is beautiful.

Also just a bit of bad luck getting the hottest day of the month. I live in Florida and play golf there in summer. There is a huge difference between 90 degrees and 97 degrees. Hoping for and expecting a better experience on the return trip, possibly including a trip down to Yokohama. Thanks!!

Boy that's a blast from the past. Best I can offer is I got a partial rub and tug from Kia in Mitchell Bros. Back in SF in the 90's, and used to see Suzi Suzuki when she would visit Honolulu at peep shows and strip clubs from 1996-98. Something about the Asian talent back then, much different from today!

Shibuya but by the time I got into the park I was already soaked through. By the time I got back to the hotel I was totally dehydrated, getting leg cramps, and could barely walk. Plan was to enjoy a nice sushi dinner and get a TAE girl but instead I am going to go to Narita about 5 hrs early, sit in the air conditioning, and get to Bangkok. Should be able to walk to a massage parlor without collapsing.

Will have some time on the way back and optimistic I can get to a Soapland and maybe get a TAE girl without ill effects. Enjoyed the shrine and the fancy toilet but otherwise not a fan of Tokyo in August. Reminds me of NYC, but cheaper and in Japanese, and with no weed.
