I had something similar happen in Mumbai once. They even told me prior to give the woman's name at reception as the second person so the check-in is simplified.

This wasn't even an SP booking for me (which I never do). Just some girl I found on SA.

The woman here got aggressive but also a little scared at that. Hurled a few abuses, but I gave her a Rs 500 note and that got her to back off begrudgingly. Interestingly, no one from reception came before or after the woman left.

In such situations, key is to not get scared. Hold your ground, and the woman will back off eventually. What also perhaps helped was that this was a 4 star hotel.

I'm sharing this experience so others don't fall into the same trap.
