I spend three days here in between my stays in Rio and Sao Paulo but didn't end up mongering as I took Iguazu Falls as a short break. Having said that, I do have a few pointers for anyone planning to come here as far as seeing the falls which are incredible. First of all, no need to take Ubers from the airport as there is a local bus #120 that picks up from the airport into town for only 5 are. My Airbnb was about 5 minutes walk from the TTU which is their transit bus terminal on the north end of centro. Turns out that this same #120 bus also goes to the Brazilian side of Iguazu Falls so no need to pay for a tour company nor taxi. So I simply walked over to the TTU early in the morning to catch this bus to the falls which is also across the street from the exotic bird park they have which was also worth visiting. The route actually goes from town to the falls and then to the airport before looping back into town with 5 are as the cash fare each time you get on. Of course I took this same bus back to the airport on departure day. This bus actually drives past Crystal Club which apparently is the nightclub outside of town where there might be freelancers but I didn't bother checking it out.

For the Argentina side of the falls, the more expensive route is to take travel tour companies or private taxis. Ubers are technically not allowed to cross borders. But I did it through a cheap way but it is a bit complicated although totally doable. So the TTU on one end has an office where there's a bus line called Easy Bus. They do these cross border routes and I paid 80 are for a return trip. This bus goes to the Brazilian immigration where you have to get off and get your passport stamped. Note that the bus will not wait for you but what you do is wait there for the next Easy Bus to come by. Very important is that you have to wait for the same bus company line.

This time the bus will wait for all passengers to go through Argentina immigration and then will continue when all passengers are through. The bus will go to the bus terminal in Puerto Iguazu in Argentina.

Here you either take a taxi or get a local bus that takes you from this bus terminal to the falls on the Argentina side. They will take Argentina pesos, Brazilian Reals or US dollars. I think the fare I paid was 35 are so no need to get Argentina pesos for my day trip. To go back to Brazil after seeing the falls, you do the reverse so take the local bus from the falls to the bus terminal (there is an ticket office for this bus right at the visitor center of the falls) and then catch the Easy Bus from there. Since my tickets from Easy Bus was a return trip, I already paid for it so I just presented my return ticket to the driver.

The Easy Bus will stop at the Argentina immigration again and it will wait for all passengers to go through customs. It will cross the border into Brazil and you go through immigration there but the bus will not wait for you again. So you have to wait for the next Easy Bus to come by to pick you up at Brazil immigration back to Foz do Brazil. So just remember that it's on the Brazil immigration side for both directions that the bus doesn't stop and you have to wait for the next one from the same company to come by which is usually every 30 minutes.

So my total transit was 80 are for Easy Bus plus 35 are x 2 for the local Argentina bus to the falls which is about 150 are. A tour company with shared transportation is quoting about 600 are so I saved quite a lot even though there are the different transfers and waiting for buses at immigration on the Brazil side required.

Foz do Iquacu is one of my favorite vacation towns with beautiful tropical scenery. Everything was so green and lively, a nice, clean, quiet, laid back town.

It was a few years back. I was disappointed with crystal Club too. Picked up a beautiful girl in a red dress, hot like a mode, paid $150 for her ST. Foz was great. But the nightlife and hobby scene left a lot to be desired. I don't speak the language and don't have a taxi contact but it seems the casa at 123 Jerusalem is defunct or have earlier hours. The house down the street at 555 had a green light but I didn't see anyone at midnight. Searching for casas was a bust. All the ladies at the boate wanted R500 for 1 hour. They were marginal and basic at best. I didn't indulge with take out. The lady drinks I bought at boates were expensive. I probably only saw 4 ladies I liked at 3 different boates. I would recommend bringing a lady with you to Foz.

I went around midnight. Roda 2 was closed. 12 girls waiting around no customers. This was my first time dealing with Paraguyanas. They are sharks. The place made me pay for services and consumables up front. I liked 2 of the girls. The problem was the girl insisted on American dollar (red flag) Plus her prices seemed out of whack with a report from 4 years ago. Visited early at 10 pm. Less than 10 customers. $12 cover rest consumable. Lady drinks $22. Chatted with a lady. Boats reminds me of SP boates but Crystal girls not as pretty. R500 a HR. Regular girls not hard to get their # and the lady I bought drink said she would go to my hotel. I passed and probably would not return. I need to find the prices and casas in Foz. So far I love the city. One of my favorites in Brazil.

The name of the spot in Foz Do Iguacu is named: Boate Crystal Night Club.

I left that area a few days ago. I was staying in Puerto Iguazu, Argentina and my taxi driver told me it was a good time for only 200 Brazilian Reals but refrained from going because the reviews were mixed. A lot of guys claimed to get ripped off with high drink prices and the girls running up a tab for spending time drinking with them.

You are right. There is one particular bar spot where some hookers are might be hollering you. I have tried to remember I have walked past and it didn't give me appetite. It is right in the downtown area north but south of that military base.

But, you should not worry at all about Ciudad del Este. I have been walking in deserted shopping areas between Hotel Guarania and Austria to have my Eisbein, and I do not feel at risk. CdE is not Cali or Centro Medellin. Not trying to talk you into anything, but I walk there regularly. However, there is no action in this area.

There used to be some "pharmacy" place, I have never seen any action there, but then maybe I have not entered the right entrance. There is some strip / monger club a few km out along the highway to Asuncion. I think that has all been reported here, look in the Paraguay CdE forum.

The general vibe is family friendly oriented. The towns are small and in bed asleep by 11 pm tops.

Your best option for flesh may be to try your swag / pick up game and find super drunk hot and bothered German / Russian tourists, or ask a waitress if she wants to hang out after her shift.

I would not try to go to Paraguay after dark.

I'm coming to Brazil in July and want to visit Iguazu Falls. What mongering options (both daytime and night) are there currently available. Also, is it possible to walk over to Ciudad de Este in Paraguay currently? If so, do I need a recent COVID-19 test?
