I spent a month in Siem Reap. There were / are literally hundreds of choices when it comes to hotels. I booked through Hotels.com as I get bonus nights and upgrade to top tier for future discounts and upgrades. I had never been before and started with a week at this cute looking "boutique hotel" opposite Freeform Fitness Gym. Cute place and not too expensive, about 35 USD a night. The location was gogod with 5-10 minutes walking to many bars, restaurants and such on the east side of the river, but also more central area as well as Sok San Rd. During this time I explored my options further and decided to leave that hotel and move to a different one that offered better service. I settled on Central Indochine d'Angkor Hotel, very close to the airport bus station. This hotel was even cheaper, at around 25 USD a night, excluding breakfast which could be had at 5 USD in the morning, and excellent buffet it was too! I really enjoyed this hotel as it was safe, quiet, very nice and kind staff, daily cleaning, good balcony with views, excellent pool for relaxing / tanning, great bar with happy hour, decent food and very cheap, good location. During my first week of exploring alternatives I must have visited 10 hotels to compare. They were all around the same price 20-30 USD a night depending on room type / size, location and amenities on the site but I found this particular hotel to be the best I visited, within this budget. I never brought back a girl there, so not sure how girl friendly they would be, but honestly they seemed pretty chill as long as you behave and are nice to the staff. Many of the other hotels I compared with were more central / closer to Pub Street, but barely any cheaper and lacking in comfort, light, no pool, no bar / restaurant and the price difference was maybe 2-3 USD a night. If you go below that you get a real shit-hole without windows, full of cockroaches and so on. If you go higher you get "luxury resort style" hotels.

Hope this helps, let me know if you need any more info. I would also like to add that Pub Street is probably the worst place I have ever visited, on earth. An absolute dump and should be avoided. Full of pick pockets, drug dealers, nasty people, drunk foreigners, hookers, waaay too loud music from all places trying to outplay each other, and so on. I walked through it 2 times and that was enough. Sok San Rd is better, and that area. More quite, cool cute little bars with various music, not so crazy busy, more personal and much much cheaper. You can get a pint of beer for 0,5 USD in most places.

I am headed for Siem Reap in mid September. I've never been there so I could use some suggestions. I'm looking for an inexpensive hotel that is quiet while being within a five minute walk of Pub Street. Main thing is clean, comfortable and safe.

The various bars on sok san near funky lane have take out. $10 bar fine.

Avoid the pub street area it is full of ladyboys.

There are chicken shacks on concrete drain road and near khmer pub street.

There is no action in the massage places around pub street and night market.

Knowing that Siem Reap pickings were slim outside of the K-Bars, but on a mission to have some level of experience I sought out an AMP near the night market area. There is a good resource listed on the Cambodia Redcat website. Search for Cambodia Redcat massage and the right links will appear. I went with their first listing, which was described as a sure thing for at least a HJ. An AMP on the corner of Night Market St and Sivatha Blvd. I selected a grab tuktuk for $1 to the nearby Space restaurant, which is just across the st. The AMP is about 50 ft down Night Market St, and sure enough as I came near, one of the ladies practically ran across the st trying to lure me in. She showed me a plastic price sheet which had $4 listed as the 1 hour price (Redcat said $3) and I followed her inside and up the stairs.

Now. I would not describe any of the lades as "young or sexy" as redcat did, but I was there midday. They were milfy / gilfy snd a 3-4 / 10 at best. I was in Siem reap for 5 days and hit a few message parlours and bars on sok san street. Most parlours where staff do not wear uniforms are purely for proving extras. Some of these girls from these establishment did not do even a 5 minute massage. I only visited a couple and groped and got handjobs. I was more interested in taking girls from bar. I was able to barfine 3 girls from butterfly bar and had a very good time. Some girls won't be able bar fine for that particular night. I just asked them to get another girl in the bar and they are happy to set you up. $70 2 shots 2 hours. $10 bar fine. The other bar where I had success is I think moon rise bar. The only bad experience was with the girl at Rose bar. She agreed to bar fine but stipulated I buy 5 lady drinks before she can barfine. Needless to say I did not bar fine. The quality of girls in Siem reap is not good. I would stick with same girl (if I managed to find a good one) for multiple nights rather than bar hopping every night to find a new one. Massage places are everywhere but are hit and miss, usually miss as per reports. If you want some in SR, either the bars across from Temple 24 hour restaurant on Sok San near Funky Lane, $15 bar fine and $50 for girl or there are two shacks on Concrete Drain Road that runs from Sok San up to NR6. One is near Buster Way. There are more Chicken Shacks out on the Ring Road and North of NR 6, not recommended for tourists tho.

As I have noted previously, avoid BB. Watch out for Ladyboys.

SR is not a mongering destination. Bangkok used to be $10 away by bus and train. Now the border is closed, so I'm taking a break from the area.
