Thanks for the input. Lima has everything but it's a hell of a ride. After spending at least a thousand on flight tickets and hotel why would someone waste hours in ride?. What can go wrong staying in a nice hotel near brothels and use uber without waling the streets?

This is for everyone but I'm using this post. Don't take offense I'm just trying to help guys stay safe.

But as someone who lives here going on 2.5 years now, nobody should be staying outside Miraflores / barranco / San Isidro unless you have and carry a gun.

This isn't to scare people and it's not bullshit. Lima is extremely dangerous, much more than most other South American countries. There is just no reason to stay outside the safe zone.

Ubers and taxis are super cheap.

With the brothels and websites there is no reason to pick up chicks off the street, especially outside Miraflores (sometimes you see working chicks in pizza alley).

The risk is not worth the money and it's more expensive than the brothels.

Street chicks are disgusting you don't know their hygiene or who they work for and the risk of catching disease or being robbed or killed isn't worth it.

Idk who is giving advice to stay outside Miraflores but I don't know any credible site member here who would suggest that..

This is the advice I always look for in this forum. I always RTFF, so thank you for all your posts been reading your stuff for a couple of dozens of pages now. Lima is one of my bucketlist destinations I wanted to go forever since I love Inca history and then chongos is a beautiful thing that a hobbist should experience!

Best advise I have read in a long time coming from someone who really knows his way around in Lima.

The money you may save by staying outside of Miraflores is nit worth the risk.

Between Hotel San Agustin Riviera in Centro Historico near to Jiron Zepita and Hotel Quadrum in Lince near to Jr. Risso, which area is better? I'm fine to compromise on the hotel quality / amenities for the area with easy access to street action between my visits to Chongos.

Don't be cheap, you're spending good money to fly here and to skimp on hotel or location to be closer to a brothel is stupid when a taxi is like $10 to brothel.

Seeking is a good site and some members here have friends to refer but it's usually $100-$150 for 1. 5 hours for a chick to come to your place. That's nothing compared to the USA or Europe so idk why guys come here spend all this money and stay outside Miraflores and look for street chicks.

Yes you may be safe most nights if you're lucky but the $50-100 total your saving isn't worth the risk.

Stop cherry picking info on here and use your brain to see what most people agree about and that's locations, don't stay outside Miraflores.

It's very easy to see who is gringo by how we dress and all it takes is one poor Peruano or group of them to see you as a target, especially if you're alone and frequent street chicks who many locals may know.

I live here and have my L1 pistol carrying protection card, I'm retired military, I do boxing and BJJ and I've been in dangerous places in the world and I still won't stay overnight or walk alone outside Miraflores.

It really depends how do you source your companions and how you spend your day time. Street action at Risso should start at the end of business hours but in practice it starts when dark falls. There is nothing much to do in Lince. Zepita at least has some action from lunch time, but again everything is during night time. Given your two choices I would still opt for Lince. Miraflores is the best area to stay for the first visit.

Not a local so I don't have much more info apart from my time there. The area around the Sheraton and the hotel someone had mentioned (hotel San Agustin Riviera) is insanely busy with traffic. Also, during the day it's fine but as the evening progresses on, and for me when I did my walk here, it can feel a bit seedier and as a gringo I felt out of place the more I walked around looking for a SG. It was fun but if I was doing it each night I wouldn't be making it a priority to stay there. It has a much "safer" feeling in Miraflores along with a variety of places to eat and grab a drink without having that feeling. When I saw the traffic outside the Sheraton it was insane and I have no idea if you called an uber how long you'd have to wait for the car to go a few hundred meters, let alone after it's picked you up and then the driver has to re-negotiate out of it. Traffic just seems to stall in this area as I think it's a feeder into a bunch of different highways?? Personally I wouldn't do it but if you're up for the adventure then why not.

One interesting thing I noticed is that it appears to have a disco / nightclub on one of the floors in the same building. Has anyone here stayed there? If so, how was your experience? Is it girl friendly? Was the noise from the club an issue?

There are no good hotels near Jiron Zepita, Puente Nuevo, Ceres Medio, Plaza Norte or Ate. There are few nice Airbnb in those area. Best bet to save time is to stay at Airbnb.

Most people seem to recommend staying in Miraflores as the go-to base for hotels, but I chose this area / hotel because of its strategic location for street action when I'm not visiting Chongos. I could be wrong since this is my first visit, let me know if I'm out of my mind to stay here. From what I've seen in videos and Google maps, the area has a few nightclubs, a shopping mall, supermarkets, and currency exchange services. The hotel also has good reviews and a restaurant right next door. Another thing I noticed is that this area seems to have one of the strongest police presences which adds a sense of security.

The area itself is safe, you can walk day and night without any problems. Moreover it has been renovated recently with municipality's effort. Risso Mall is nearby (cinema, fast food etc). There are couple of discos and casinos as well. So, nothing should happen. But it's still an area of turf war between locals and Venezuelans with occasional excesses, like what happened last year. Now, its closer to other chongos in the North (in the walking distance for avid walker like myself), but don't do that, take a cab.
