Posts: 2942Thanks for the backstory on this Gogo. I was actually wondering what had happened to Willy (for some reason I thought he ended up being the Mayor).

Posts: 5608Where does Sosua fit into your plans? Blackbeard's is on the other side of Puerto Plata from Sosua. As for finding women, just step outside of your deluxe room, go down to the pool and there they are.

I'm probably the Number One fan of Sosua.
In 9 years and some scores of trips, I've never posted a bad review, because I've never had a bad vacation. I've had a regular novia down there for exactly the same amount of time, (I met her on my first night) although I sometimes get down there a few days early without telling her.
If I stay away from our mutual haunts I sometimes can get a couple days of mongering in before she finds out through our friends that I am in town and jumps on the bus, with that crazy bag that contains a week's supply of day clothes, and evening wear fit for any occasion.
She knows where I'll be, and although I act like I'm trying to avoid her, she knows I'm honestly happy to see her happy, smiling, and enthusiastic face, and whoever I'm temporarily with gets the boot. One thing we have never done is put anyone else first, and it keeps the fantasy going.
We have traveled all over the Island together and stayed in some pretty crude places together, and there's no one I'd rather travel with. I know her friends and her extended family well, and she has shown me the real DR. (Incidentally we have a great understanding, I honestly haven't sent her a cent in the last year).
I just booked my next trip with the one guy I would go down there with. We already have some hot chicas lined up, and I may get to try a couple new ones in before the novia shows up. But the truth is mongering gets stale for me after a couple of days, then I need something more fulfilling. Enter Princessa Novia.
So I have got it all figured out, not only for me, but for my buddy too, guaranteed.
From her side, she gets a week's holiday with me, two modest shopping trips, Playera and La Sirena, and whatever is left over in my wallet from my budget at the airport.
So pardon me if I get a little impatient here, with losers who can't enjoy Sosua for what it is, yet insist on telling me how I am all fucked up! LOL.
I can "communicate", thank you, I have "diversified" thank you, and I spend as much time "outside" of Sosua as in it, thank you. I'm not a WU Novio, thank you! Don't need Classico, don't need Rhumba, don't need zombie street hoes. Don't need Viagra. Thank you all!
I don't need to change a thing, but don't let the door hit you when y'all "move on". LOL.
My purpose here is simply to let newbies know what is possible, as a few of the more positive vets here did for me when I was new. It really did change my life.
It's called giving back.

Posts: 3700Willy was the manager of Latinos back in the day but the older Canadian owner passed and his sons didn't want the club. Willy disappeared for a little but came back strong with new investors and opened the'Latins. I was with someone (I think it was Mr E and his brother) and I walked in the'Latins and Willy spoke to me and told me he just paid one million dollars for Classicos and Merengue. The next night Willy had this short black bodyguard in a suit shadowing him as he went across the street and met with Armondo. Willy would later interchange security between the two clubs. In my next trip Willy was now at Merengue as the'Latins was now a dark closed big albatross.

People were pissed and some viewed the election as a direction that Sosua would follow. Willy was for the Sosua that we love and know. The street people and club owners campaigned hard for him. Mayor Newman was against everything we loved about Sosua. If you read my post from last week I said " The smart girls were probably laying low awaiting the fallout from the election". Well now we see the fallout. Is it temporary? Time will tell, but someone also posted last week that the families were taking over Sosua earlier in the week before the weekend wolf packs arrive. What better way to send a message to the weekend boys than to close Rumbas and three other clubs while also restricting the operational hours?
I'm hearing the hotels can't continue to survive with only capacity Friday's and Saturdays and 40 percent or less the other days. Same with the beach owners. The expensive airfares could also be in play, Sosua is no longer a vacation place for us but a weekend party place or a drop in spot for explorers. I know only two veterans from this board who stay in Sosua longer than the weekend and that's Tomjackin and Chief Justice but they come from the west coast of America so I understand. Plus they love the beach.
It's funny, but I was telling BQ Ribs last week that I remember the days (2007-2009) when girls would fuck you, make your bed and straighten your room, then sit politely waiting to see if you wanted to spend time with them or if you were going to pay them to leave. How did we fuck that up LOL?

Posts: 18My first visit to Sosua, first visit to RD really.
My friend and I are staying at Blackbeards (2 deluxe rooms), it seemed an easy safe place for a couple noobs like us. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to do and where to go? I'll be there from the 17th to 27th. I am there also for Dental work in Santiago. I plan to use the bus system for the 2 trips back and forth to the dentist in Santiago, I was told by the dentist that it was very cheap compared to a taxi. I heard they have Uber now? True? Any experienced mongers that can offer advice in finding sweet little senoritas to comfort my pains will be very appreciated.

Posts: 2942Yeah, that's what I was asking. I thought he was the owner and was wondering how is club could get shut down being that he was one of the top officials in Sosua.

Posts: 18757I don't think Willy owned the'Latin. He just had a hand in it. But if it was about a shakedown, whose palm was he supposed to be greasing seeing that he was one of the top dogs in the city?

Posts: 2942Sounds like a shakedown to me. The ones who don't have the money to pay the "License to operate" will remain closed.

Posts: 2119Jajaja! This fresh brouhaha is funny as usual, as it was revealing to know a major hallmark like Rumba was operating without a license and it is nowhere near Morocco. The good news is that in Sosua, one does not need a Rumba or any of the other spots. There are plenty walking around even during the day time that would be happy to do the deed, even with those hapless without Spanish. Besides if Rumba is gone, can "ay caramba" be far behind to take its place?

Rent the movie, "Casablanca".
It's 60 years or so old, but it might give you a clue on how these places operate
