    $ of Viagra in Sosua?

Anyone presently or recently been to Sosua that can advise on the current prices and best pharmacy or grocery store in Sosua / POP to buy generic sildenafil? I recall last time I was there I paid less than USD $1. 00 per pill when I bought like 90.

You do not need to know about their plans. All you need is the SIM and to add money to it. At Claro you can choose your own internet plan by pressing *121#. Whichever plan you choose subtracts that price from the credit that you have on your phone. If you do not plan to be back in the DR soon, but don't want to go through the hassle of repeating the whole phone thing when you return then you can use services such as etopuponline to add the minimal amount ($5 or so) every few months in order to keep from losing your number.

    Claro Data Paquetico

If they say yes it is still in your name, ask to see your name on their pc. The above info relates to the Claro hotspot for data paquetico. I have a Claro cell phone number and a Claro number for my Claro hotspot. I speak from experience as have gotten ripped-off twice from the sub-outlets, so now only deal with the main Claro office. In Sosua the main offices for Claro and Orange are near the Popular Banco, 2 sub-outlets I had probs with were at Sola and Playero. My name for one number was registered as a spanish swear-word, when I went to the main Claro office the 2 chicas there thot it was quite funny when I asked to see my name and it showed up as a spanish swear word.

Generally speaking, you can go to any Orange or Claro store (the most popular and used companies) and get a sim and number for about 100 to 200 pesos. You have to bring your passport. I would suggest showing them your original passport. They may reject photocopies? You can ask them about extras, like adding data. But you do not have to purchase data at the store. You can purchase data directly (with Orange or Claro) from your phone. You can ask for their access code to get to their menu to purchase data. This is what I still use. Orange is #100# option#3 Paquetico and follow menu to get to purchase internet. Claro is *112# Option #2 Movil Internet, and follow menu to get to purchase the internet you want.

The key is to have sufficient credit on the phone already. You can buy credit / minutes at any available kiosk, as well as in a Claro or Orange store. You dial into their respective menus, and access the services you want. In your case, the data package you desire. You can even purchase data for one day and that might cost you 40 to 100 pesos? Or you can purchase data for a week or longer.

Test drive it. See if you even need it. Because you may not need it if you will always be around wifi where you go. I have both Orange and Claro hotspot gadgets. And for the most part, I rarely have to use them because I am usually around wifi venues every where I go. A hotspot gadget or having data on my phone is mostly useful when I am on the move or a venue I'm at has no wifi. Like in a car, bus etc, and I do not have access to wifi. Hope this helps.

One side note about Claro. Ive noticed that when I had sufficient credit on my phone, activated the data switch on my phone, I had data/internet capabilities.. And I suppose my credit was being charged or depleted if I used data while my data switch was activated. So the good thing about that is not having to purchase data, because it was already there as long as i had credit/minutes on the phone. Just have to be careful about draining my credit and I end up not being able to make calls. Use free wifi whenever it is available.

I have a Lumia dual SIM 950 xl phone and I get a Claro SIM card every time I come down. Usually it costs me around $30-$35 US for the card, couple hundred minutes and about 2 or 3 gig of internet. It works out really nice because it lets me use my own smartphone with all of my apps plus I can give the chicas a Dominican nbr and not my real one. If I remember right the card will stay active for 90 days.

I'm not good at math, so I don't rate the chicas 1 to 10, too much stress!

There was a good mix, including some hotties. And there were plenty to choose from.

For the eight time, I stayed at Casa Cayena, now called Hotel Sosua Sunrise. Wilfried has recovered well and walking faster with a cane than I'm able to walk with my old broken ass in tow. Over the years, Wilfried has built the hotel around an incredible family of employees. He is truly a trusted Amigo!

Wilfried is still offering breakfast and dinner included in the room rate. I ate breakfast there a few times, but I did have dinner on four nights; great chow! Room security was never an issue. I left out my laptop and surface pad daily without any issues. The entire staff is professional and overall outstanding. I will continue to stay there.

I got lazy and just exchanged money at the hotel, the rate was 47 to 1. The rest of the time I abused the ATM machines and vice-versa...

    Cell Phone:

Because I have the T-Mobile North American plan, life was quite easy. My plan gave me unlimited data at 2 G speed, calls at 20 cents per minute, and free texts. Thus, I started using WhatsApp on my regular phone. I started chatting with chicas before I left. As long as I had a WiFi signal, WhatsApp was free of charge. I was chatting on WhatsApp, Facebook, and Skype; including video calls for no charge whatsoever.

    Food:

Besides eating at Casa Cayena, I ate at other spots. I had the ribs at the Scandinavian place on the beach. They are the best ribs I've ever had in Sosua! Also the steak tenderloin with peppercorn sauce is fucking amazing! Even though the owner, Tom, has passed on from his battle with cancer, the place still is open and the food quality has not skipped a beat. To Tom: Rest In Peace my friend.

I had the gumbo 3 different nights at Bourbon Street; it was that good. It came with white rice and cornbread. Someone put a butt-load of money in that place; it was quite impressive. The Asian place called Yamazato was closed. That is how Sosua rolls, restaurants open and close; I'm used to that fact!

    The Beach:

Very few police on patrol, which means, a good amount of chicas working the beach scene. I pulled two off the beach this trip.

    Bars:

Rumba is still closed, but no worries, City Lights is now the new Rumba. My amigos Juan and Miguel both work there. If you like Haitian chicas, well CL is Haitian fucking heaven!

All the bars were active with a butt-load of chicas. I took a lap in Merengue (below Clasicos) every night, the place was packed with chicas.

    Blue Ice: WHY?

Fraggle Rock (next to my hotel): The best customer is the drunken owner; sad place indeed.

    Women:

It really helped to have established contacts. As soon as I returned to my hotel from the mercado, one of my FB girls was standing outside the hotel. I spent some time with a few new girls, but also some time with my previous girls. Sosua IS NOT dried up, as some would have you believe. There are still plenty of girls available. Some were asking for 2000/2500 for short time, but many were still going with 1500. It is still a buyer's market.

    Final thoughts:

Sosua is ever changing; so get used to it! This was my 19th trip in 7 years and I watched this place with its ups and downs. Some places are closed while enough places are still open to provide a good assortment of chicas. Every night was off the hook concerning the number of women that were available. This place is still one of the best values in the world, and also, if you make connections, it is a great place to come back to on a regular basis. I love the women and they seem to love my pesos, so I will return!
Great informative report, TJ. and saved me the trouble of posting one.

My experience was the same as yours, always looking forward to going back! A few changes, new faces and places, and a cheap quick hop from home. No need to pack!

Well, the point is that if you are causing offense to other residents of the complex, then it is a problem, and if you are not, then it is not a problem. If the owners lose tenants because people don't want their children sharing patio chairs with obvious hookers at the pool, or because there is a lot of late night noise of high heels on the staircase, followed by loud and prolonged groaning night after night, then it may be a problem. Bottom line, they want your money, but they don't want to lose other tenants.

That's the "official" positiion of most high end condos. The management are renting out some very exclusive condos for individual absentee owners so they obviously don't want hoards of "prostitutes" wandering all over the place, stealing their stuff.

I have a rental agreement somewhere about four pages long, with a $500 security deposit. If you read it it explicitly says that all visiting guests must leave their ID with security, it does not mention "prostitutes".

Now we don't bring in drug addled, toothless skanks. Our chicas are presentable, but a couple of older gents like us coming through the gate with 22 year old spinners is not fooling anybody. But we are respectful and act like normal guests.

As Dickhead says, keep a sense of humor, and be "cool". !

    And, smile! You're on vacation!

    But remember, as always, YMMV.

(Still an all, it's a shame we have to smash the Rolex to show some Doubting Thomas, that there's no little magician inside!)
