I suggest you use ATM's at banks that don't charge a fee. Davivienda and Scotiabank Colpatria are two I use. Your US bank will probably charge foreign transaction fees, so find a bank that does not. I use Charles Schwab Bank, and there are others. It is easy to set up a brokerage account at Schwab, then open a bank account tied to it. You do not have to fund the brokerage account.

You didn't specifically mention, but can I assume that it was worth the effort? That you saw an immediate and direct benefit with the chicas (and in general) that made the extra effort you put in learning Spanish, worth it? You would do it again?

I saw immediate results. I can now have deeper conversations with chicas, joke with them, and I feel like they are way more into the sex because they know me better. Also, conversations just flow quicker, as we don't have to keep typing into the translator apps.

It's been great and I am hoping to learn more!

Most barbers in Colombia and other Spanish speaking South American countries these days are Venezuelan refugees. Just like back home you may have to try a few before you get what you want. I have not gotten a haircut back home since years ago when the price went from $13 to $20. The second best haircut I got in my life was in Los Charamicos, DR (best was Dumaguette, Philippines for $2). I have the picture from after that cut in my phone and when I sit down in the chair I show them the picture and say make it just like this.

In Medellin $75 USD would get you laid twice, jajaja.

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I am heading down to Medellin with a few like-minded friends in June. We have already booked an Airbnb in El Poblado.

Thanks to a very helpful senior member, I have already made some Facebook contacts.

Some FB girls have already contacted me, and one seemed to be really interested, but then wanted $300 (that's right three hundred US dollars!) for 3 hours. I passed knowing that the going rate is between 150 000 and 250 000 COP for 2 hours, and the fact that I still have time to separate the wheat from the chaff. Facebook is a new world to me, so I'm still trying to get the hang of it (I didn't have Facebook before, and created an account specifically for this trip).

Before the trip work our some ground rules. It will save some headaches.

Forget about Seeking. It's a waste of time and money for your purposes. Facebook is your best bet. Instead of finding 7 girls who will show up at 7 different times, find 1 girl with 6 friends. My posting is slowing down a bit (getting a bit lazy as well). This is mostly because the last few days have been less crazy than the first few.

I came to Medellin for two reasons. First, of course, the women. And second, I wanted to improve my Spanish drastically in a short period of time. I am completely self taught in Spanish. And before this trip, I'd say that I was at a beginner level (still had trouble with some conjugation, object pronouns, and past / future tenses (god I hate grammar terms sometime)) And now, just 9 days later, I can confidently say that I have moved into the intermediate level.

For the last 6 days, I signed myself up for a Intensive Spanish class. I'm talking 6 hours a day in class, using 80% Spanish 20% English, one-on-one with a professor. It was great and I met some amazing people (my teachers) who had amazing life stories. I choose Baselang as my school because I would be able to continue online after the program (but there are tons of other schools in Medellin as well). I paid $400 for unlimited one-on-one classes for the week. By the last day of the week, I was having (broken) conversations about the war in Ukraine, the economic situation in Venezuela, and other "high level topics". It is crazy how fast you can learn a language if you really put effort into it. Plus, at night, there was the added bonus that I was able to practiced what I learned in class with chicas.

Anyways, this is what my schedule looked like for days 4 - 9.

Wake up 7-8 am.

Class 8:30 - 5 pm (with breaks in the middle).

Visit a Casa / Call Over a Facebook Girl to My Apartment: 5 - 7 pm.

Dinner: 7-8:30 pm.

Call Over FB Girl #2 to My Apartment: 9 pm.

Call it a Night: 11-1 am.

As to the chicas:

Chica #6: Fun chica, tiny little spinner. Kinda of shy. One of the best BBBJ in my life, but was just okay in bed. Likely would not repeat.

I'm also thinking of going onto Seeking and checking out some action there, but it sounds like it may be more hit and miss and the women expect more in terms of cash.
