I think there is a misunderstanding along the line. When you see these types of commentaries from someone that lives in or frequents a place, it is NEVER accompanied by you are messing it up for me (at least that I have ever seen). It is more trying to hip visitors to the game.

Expats have an ingrained way of doing things and it is usually not dependent on what a short time visitor does or does not do. For instance a buddy of mine gives a few chicks a salary of 3000 or 4000 baht monthly and they come stay over whenever he wants. You going to a gogo to buy 10 lady drinks or ring the bell is doing nothing to affect his routine. I have more free chicks around this place than I have time for. The last thing I am worried about is somebody coming in to town and their actions causing me not to be able to get paid chicks or my pockets to be emptier because of it.

To simplify it, yes by all means posts on where it's happening and where value is to be had can be extremely helpful.

That said without pointing the finger I imagine you can agree that there are some members who do in fact believe that paying over the so-called going rate whatever that might be will result in price increases for them and that uneducated girls from the countryside are being more than compensated when a punter gives them 1000 baht, sometimes less, for a session. To the first argument there is no evidence to back it up and on the second argument all I would say it's a tough life for most of the girls. Yes, some of them may be uneducated country girls but they all deserve respect and fair compensation for servicing our sexual needs. Comparing what they should be paid to minimum wage rates, well I just don't get it, makes no sense but that's just me.

I didn't realize you guys were philosophizing from scratch, probably the reason Admin moved the discussion to this thread as it had nothing to do with Pattaya.

This is a never-ending topic of conversation Paolo. I've been to Pattaya a number of times but accept I have little or no real understanding of the expat scene there. It would appear accommodation, food, massages, time with the ladies are all considerably cheaper than Bangkok. You could then imagine those living there long term should be happy but alas not always. In any market the cost of services whatever they may be is complicated and dependent on numerous variables but eventually is guided by the principle of supply and demand. For Thai farmer Issan trailer girls, THB 1000 is a lot of cash. $US200 ( R1000) buys roughly 4-6, one hour deluxe passionate sex escapades and any number of delicious meals and / or other benefits in Rio. Bring your own quality food, skip the airline garbage and if you like a series of 50 ML re-usable bottles with your favorite alcoholic beverages, such as single malts and quality Cachaca for Caipirinha (BYO sugar and limes) if heading to / from Brazil or TH for that matter. And get a prescription for a decent benzodiazepine like Temazepam.

Wine is probably not worth it, your taste buds and nose is screwed up at altitude, so stick with a robust cabernet sauvignon from the airline.

Yesterday I wanted a 2 h Thai massage and I took you by your Word.

I thought fuck that place on soi Buakhao that overcharged me at 200 baht like a dumb tourist that I am, I'd rather go a little further and found the exact same quality at 150 and save a lot of money (100 bahts gets me at least 2 meals in Pattaya) .

So I look all along 3rd road (from Pattaya klang to Pattaya Tai) and couldn't find any below 200.

Then I took it far down soi17 until some places I've never even been to although I used to live in that soi in the past and couldn't see any massage place below 200.

Eventually the heat made me change my plans as I got tired, so I thought fuck that 150 massage that I cannot find, I 'd better go back in the confort of my air-conditionned room and get a good free Coffee there instead (these are the best coffees).

Once there I realised you made me save 500 baht (at least 12 good meals in Pattaya), so thanks again, it was a very usefull piece of information that you shared.

LOL. You are right. I went looking the other day because some friends are coming into town. It does appear that they are all minimum 200 baht now. So it looks like there are only 2 tiers of shops these days, 200 and 300.

I was at TreeTown eating with some buddies yesterday. I was shocked to see a buddy that lives on the dark side come up and go to the same stall that we had gone to. He never comes to this side of town any more and usually just stays in the house. Turns out he only came for the crispy pork and kale. That is both our favorite Thai meals and what I had just finished eating as well. Said he sent the lady a message before coming. I told him that I noticed this place is much more expensive than others though. It was 120 baht. I said it must be the TreeTown rent. There is a lady with a place at the base of my building that sells the same quantity for 50 baht (without the egg though).

Just like massages. Everybody knows that getting a massage on Beach Road or Walking Street will be 300 baht. Go back to Soi Buakhao and they will be 200 baht. Go a little further to where I live off 3rd Road and you will pay 150 baht. Who would get bent out of shape over someone telling them where they could get the same massage for cheaper.

If I was in France or Japan I would not expect to be getting a chick for $40 all night, but I am in Thailand where I know what good money $40 is. I have a chick that works quality control at the Honda factory. Today was her day off, but she went in to work. For working 11 hours on her off day she gets 2000 baht. Knowing this do you really think fucking someone for 1 hour is worth 2000 baht around here on a local market? You can make this argument about almost any place in the entire world that has low wages. I remember someone once bragging they had just bought a waterproof phone (probably cost 1 K USD). I know there are phones that sell for 200 USD that will make phone calls, text, Whatsapp and take photos. And yet, people choose to purchase phones that can cost upwards of 1500+ USD. So, I still I am having trouble understanding why others are critical. Sharing of information is great. I want to know where I can get a iPhone 14 pro max 512 K for a fraction of the price. As an individual who lives in a sex tourist country also, I can tell you without a doubt that the amount visitors report paying is no where close to what I often wind up paying.
