I am in Thailand now and was having the same quandary as you about visiting in the rainy season. The Thai met office must have purchased a job lot of thunder and lightning stickers, because they appear to be on display everywhere.

It rained heavy when I arrived BKK on 3rd, and then virtually nothing during my trip to Hua Hin. Coming back to BKK today it p*ssed it down part way along the route, but clear when I arrived at my hotel. We've had a few spots this afternoon and evening.

Tonight I had a look at soi Cowboy for the first time in years. Had a look at two bars (Suzy Wong and Shark) and had been received the same way in both places. On a recent trip to BKK, I went to Levels Club on Soi 11. A fair share of the girls there are freelancers. The selection varies but I found some to be really good looking and easy to chat with. Might I suggest that again your opinion is not the case for many.

I was in Soi Cowboy under a month ago.

Yes, Crazy Horse is still crazy as, and not my popular choice, tho I did find Baccara to still be OK but as not as good as in the past.

And yes there are scammy bars to avoid, with any of the bars where the girls outside, and inside, are wearing pantyhose, like Spice Girls, should be totally avoided as the prices you will get quoted are outrageous with LD's at 300 baht, and doubles served.

However, that is a long way from the whole Soi being a total ripoff as you declare.

Tilac is still as good as it always has been, and the little single frontage gogos, Jungle Jims, Moonshine, others, and my alltime favorite AfterSkool, are still as straight laced non-scammy as ever.

AfterSkool still has cheap drinks, both customers and LD's, plus the naughty corner BBBJ's can still be had at 1000 baht per girl, for one or two girls, and the night I was in there many of the girls were solid 6-7 lookers, and I find them to be great fun times, straight shooting, no games to be with.
