Posts: 7745That you may be. I will stipulate to the fact that you are certain that you are right all the time in your own mind. But I have noticed two exceptions: BBFS, Beach Road. I don't know everything about the Kingdom of Thailand, but I know Beach Road, The Bus Bar, 808 and Thai Clubs.

Posts: 991Who? Are you implying this story of fiction is actually about a real life person on this forum? Who might that be? It must be true if you think you know who the story is about right? Let me ask you, do you actually have 3 or 4 computers or smart phones all open and logged into ISG at the same time?

Posts: 991Oh my Buddha. I know you came on visa exemption, but you stated that one can also apply for a tourist visa and get 90 days and that's just not true. It's 60 days. so, there are two topics here that you are confused about and/or mixing together. Thanks for coming out.

So, single or multiple entry tourist visas don't give you 90 days permission to stay. They give you 60 days permission to stay with an option to extend for 30 more days in country.

What this means is the time frame you have to use the visa from the Thai embassy before it expires. Using the visa meaning entering the country. depending on the visa you apply for, you may have 30-90 days to use that visa. Nobody cares about this and they only care about the permission to stay you get and that's what the original op was inquiring about. Permission to stay on visa exemption. Again, using the visa means entering Thailand and permission to stay means how long you can stay in the Thailand for. This being 60 days on any tourist visa with an option to extend for 30 more days.
Why do you think your visa exempt stamp is a visa? Let me educate you. Every visa exempt stamp is given at the airport when you arrive. It has Visa class_______ and then they put the code their for visa exemption. Further, visas are not issued at the airport. Visas are issued at one of three places. First place is at your local immigration office. Second place is a Thai embassy. Third place is a Thai consulate. However, only non-immigrant visas can be issued at your local immigration and not tourist visas. Clear?
Look at the screenshot and I quote. U.S. passport holders are not required to obtain a visa when entering Thailand for tourism purposes"""

It is good for 60 days permission to stay, not 90 days. However, that permission to stay can be extended one time only inside Thailand to then achieve the 90 days. If one chooses not to extend it, its 60 days.

What you are referring to here is visa exemption, not visa on arrival. Don't worry about mixing up the terminology. It's no big deal. There are still a few selected nationalities that can fly here, but actually have to apply for their visa at the airport after they arrive. This is visa on arrival. Then there is visa exemption, which is what you guys are talking about. This means that certain nationalities can travel to Thailand and don't require any type of visa. They are exempt, hence the term visa exemption. Thai immigration simply stamps your passport with the appropriate permission to stay. For you that has typically been 30 days. However, last month the Thai government issued an announcement that they will start to give 60 days permission to stay on visa exemption, but the press mixed up the start date and advertised June 1st. Since then, we have been waiting for Thailand to finalize the legal process so this new policy can be implemented. That process is expected to be finished shortly. I believe it will be implemented by July 15 or by July 31st at the latest along with the DTV.
