I have been on the ground for over 10 days now and I have been to many of the gogos and beer bars and all three red light districts: Nana Plaza, Soi Cowboy, and Patpong. Here is what I have noticed about the gogos to have success. You can't just walk into a gogo and point to a hot girl on stage and expect all out GFE and an amazing night. Its not quite that easy. I have had better success when its a little later in the evening, as time winds down the girls will be more willing to go. Also, here is my best tip, get the girls who come up to you. They are the ones who obviously need your business and want to make the money. I am no longer going to even call a girl over. I am just hitting 3-4 gogos after 10 pm And waiting for one that I think is cute to give me a look and then come over to me. Soi Cowboy has been fun, but lacks the number of gogos of Nana. Nana is fucking wild and that whole street is a shit show. I saw some older tall ripped up Indian dude in tank top last night pulling girls. He straight up looked like Dhalism from Street Fighter LOL. The street even smells like a fucking cross between a chinese massage parlor, a chinese food restaurant and a sewer. If you look around the beer bars of Nana, there are actually some decent girls mixed in and they super fun to have a drink with. Only problem in the beer bar is all the waitresses will ask you for a drink. Just decline and they will smile and walk away.

I may be wrong on this statement, but I think some bars want to focus on Asian men. Try to find out which bars these are, and if you aren't Asian, then avoid them. Like I said, if a cute girl grabs your arm and pulls you into the gogo and sits with you, then that's the gogo and girl for you. I really like the music of Angel witch in Nana, but girls not that hot when I was there. Also the bar on first floor in Nana to the left as soon as you walk in has been good. For anyone who has a drinking problem. Don't come to Thailand LOL. I have never drank this much in my life and its really starting to show LOL. Besides the girls, massages, bars, gym, and pool, what do you guys do to pass the time? I am really trying to not drink for a few days to focus on my health a little bit.

Flying Turkish Airlines from the east coast of the United States and connecting in IST results in two flights that are roughly equal in length, and that airport is pretty nice. I've reached the stage in life where I fly business class. Preferably using points / miles. But even if I have to pay out of pocket it's worth it to me to have a comfortable seat on the plane and a luxury lounge during the layover.

I've read many online posts that disrespect Turkish Airlines. But, their business class is often much cheaper than the competition so I tried them and they are now my go-to airline. The problem I have is that their in-flight food is so outstanding that it is difficult to not overeat. Then, you get to the IST business lounge where they have an insane number of good food options.

All of the previous reports tend to show how YMMV the whole scene is. For example, I would never waste my time on an Escort or Fiw Fans or TF simply because I want to pick out what I am spending my money on in the flesh. I don't do massage parlours as I prefer my girls a bit more untouched. I don't do Soi Cowboy, too many tourists and too much drama.

I get all I need out of Thermae and Nana. At prices cheaper than that referenced here, but that's the beauty of being an old timer.

In the evenings will usually get together for a decent dinner and then hit a nice craft beer or wine bar. Hanging out with friends has and always will be one of the great things about living in Bangkok.

I suggest a different imperfect solution to jet lag. I try to schedule short layover flights that arrive BKK in the afternoon and then I use the following routine: check in hotel, get laid, eat dinner, go to bed between about 7-10 PM, and sleep as long as possible. That usually gets me well rested and up in time for the hotel breakfast. Jetlag is about 80% resolved only 20 hours after arrival and is 95% resolved about 44 hours after arrival.

Here's what works for me when I cross a dozen time zones. My philosophy is to make the trip as quickly and comfortably as possible, and to arrive at BKK around sunrise. Toward that end, I book trips leaving in the evening with just a single stopover of less than five hours. I've connected in Tokyo, Frankfurt, Istanbul and Doha. I don't drink alcohol when I'm flying. Plenty of time for that when I reach Thailand. I eat modestly. I won't claim to sleep well, but I get a few winks here and there. Arriving around sunrise gives me a second wind. I feel sharp getting out of the airport and into my car. Usually I head straight to Pattaya, arriving mid-morning. Plenty of time to check in, buy supplies and have a eat a light lunch before fatigue overtakes me and I take a nap. I set the alarm for a few minutes after sunset, and I resist the temptation to party all night. After a few drinks and some what not, I'm usually ready for bed in the wee hours.

I know I'll bolt awake near dawn, but that's OK. I force myself to get outside in the sunshine and walk to breakfast. For the next couple of days I'll still need that afternoon nap, and I'll still wake up earlier than I'd like. But by the third day I'm usually adjusted.

I stayed in that Hotel for a week the last time I was there, on the apartment side, it has full kitchen etc. The reason I choose to stay over there in Soi 57 vs around Soi 11 was the Octave rooftop bar. I had heard the bar is filled with freelancers. But in my experience, all nights I went up there, including weekend nights, I did not find any; all girls there were with someone already. It was a good try-out for me but next time I am going to stick with the Hotels around Soi 11.

Had a two night layover in BKK recently and had a pretty great time but man have prices gone up over the years!

First night was after a nap, shit, shower, and shave. Stayed at the Bangkok Marriott Hotel Sukhumvit. Very pleasant and visitor friendly, excellent breakfast.

I prefer to do the trip straight through. These modern planes are so comfortable it is like sitting in your living room even in cattle class. I'm amazed. I make the flight straight through and I cannot believe how good I feel after the trip. It is a piece of cake compared to sleeping on a web seat in a plane designed for transport only. Although it was always nice to be able to lay down completely, but sometime riding in those cargo compartments was cold as fuck.

The choices available to us are amazing. No better time in human history to be alive!

Yeah it's not as bad as it seems flying straight through. My next trip in August I fly from Lax to Tokyo Haneda with a long nine hour layover and then flight to BKK with an early morning 5:00 am arrival. While on the layover in Tokyo I have free lounge access so I'll be able to shower, eat and rest.

Arriving to BKK so early I see as a good thing as I will force myself to stay awake the whole day and not sleep until late evening or night so I can quickly get acclimated to the new time zone. Plus I have a very specific routine on my first day in BKK which I intend to implement.

The problem is the LAX to BKK flight is around 20+ hours (2 legs). I also try to avoid multiple leg flights.

I've been doing the LAX to MNL flight (direct flight on Philippine Airline), staying for some time, and then going to BKK direct. There are also direct flights to Manila from SFO and JFK.

Ya, Manila Airport is probably the worst airport I've been to. But if you just land, and get your hotel taxi to meet and pick you up, it isn't that bad.

Plus, you can avoid Manila airport leaving if you leave from Angeles (Clark Airport). There is a CRK to BKK flight with Cebu Pacific. Leaving from Clark if you're in Angeles is very convenient. Plus, you can stop by Clark from numerous cities if you return to LAX. Only problem is that going from Angeles to LAX can be a pain. The 2 hour taxi ride and dealing with Manila airport.

I'm going to have to bite the bullet on this flight and because I'm bringing a lot of swag and I don't want to have to clear customs twice. So it's direct LA to Phnom Penh, I think I'll go through Korea those are the easiest legs.
