Cool. Glad you there safely and got some rest. When you get a chance try searching for chicas on the beach this Sat and Sunday and keep us posted. Peace.

I arrived yesterday. Got to the Hotel Alicia about 6 pm after spending a long day flying to STI. Had to get up at 3 am to catch my flight from Ohio. I had prearranged a taxi from the airport. The best I could do was $90. All of the ATMs at the airport were out of money.
I am pleasantly surprised with the Hotel Alicia. I got one of the bungalow rooms by the pool. Good size room, good location, comfortable bed and nice size shower with plenty of hot water. I usually stay at the New Garden but their prices seem to have increased so I figured I'd try something new.
I was near zombie mode after the long travel day and I knew I wasn't going to pull anyone but did head down to the strip around Bar Central around 8 pm to get something to eat and a couple of beers before crashing.
There was the usual assortment of overweight, aggressive girls out but there was a surprising number of cuter, young flacas working the street and the bars. It was a Friday night so I am not getting too optimistic but will definitely head back down there tonight.

Posts: 3How to deal with 8-10's
Gentlemen, I'm visiting next week. Last year I was reluctant to date the 8+s because I couldn't gain any rapport. I opted for some 6-7's and they were semi-duds in the hotel room. I've heard the move is to opt for Haitian 5-6's but I'm traveling way too far for a 5. This will be my 2nd visit. Last year wasn't bad but hoping this year will be better.

Posts: 321I haven't been down to the beach yet but I guess it was 32 booths at the Charamicos end. The whole thing had been settled months ago but of course they waited for high season to cause the inevitable ruckus. Its all over now and things were back to normal the next day- I hope they don't fuck up the beach but this isn't going to effect much for now- I've been in town for a couple weeks now. The Ho numbers are up to about mid season form now. The quality seems down but there are some gems with that many of them. In fact I almost pulled one off the street for the first time in 2 years. I gave her my number and she messaged- smoking hot but negotiations came to an impass.

Posts: 3257Cruise lines in Puerto Plata
The number of cruise lines using Puerto Plata have increased significantly. This may be part of the motivation to modernize the beach facilities. This could increase foot traffic on the beach and the streets of Sosua. Only time will tell but money is being spent. These changes should not affect night life but who can say.

Are these the little bars and restaurants directly right in front of the beach. Anyone with some clear pics of what's going on!

Posts: 120Avoid the ATM at the Sosua casino
I wanted to get some 20 K early in the morning and went to the casino near Sosua beach (based on my previous experience). This time the security guard was like oh we are closed, blah blah so I gave him a 100 to let me in. Which turned out to be a waste because the fees this time for 20 k was 1155 pesos. I noped out of there and at the 100 peso loss and pulled 15 k from a Popular ATM in Santiago later that day for the standard fee of 300 pesos.
I also noticed a few young ones sitting on the steps of the casino after a night in from what looks to be the disco inside and they had put a lot of trash on the steps.

Posts: 2449Not the same one, but you can find these hardworking abuelas all over the Island. They are the glue that holds families together, raise the kids while the young are out working and have respect from everybody, just like they used to when and where I grew up. They are loved and cared for by the families they raised, and the communities are happier for it.

No problem, pulled on my shorts and sandals and walked up the street to my little colmado operated all hours by an 80 year old abuela. Ignored the hollas from my two bars, got my smokes no problem, "paga manana".
Sounds like you went to the old Ziolos. The description of the owner fits! If her, she is super cool and its always a highlight to see her when in that area.

Every year when I renew my ever rising rent, I promise my regular (who's from PP) I'll be cool and move to PP, Las Terrenas or Constanza. Next year for sure, babe.
Yesterday, Miss be was up in the hills visiting family, I had given her a little money for necessities, including a good bottle of CabSav to share with her favorite chica pal in Cabarete on her way up there.
I was at my favorite watering hole for happy hour saying Hi to returning snowbirds from all over the world. Needed a siesta after that. So went home and sampled the week's supply of healthy home cooked food she had left in the fridge and freezer. Woke up with no smokes and my pesos for the day depleted.

On the way back bartender Maria comes out an grabs me. Hadn't seen her since last Feb. She's hired on again for the season, so had to go in for a beer. Across the street came the sounds of K's blues band tuning up so I left a tab paga manana, and went over to see. More folks I hadn't seen for a while, and a definite high season vibe picking up after a long hot slow summer.
Stayed for a couple of sets and enjoyed the company. Finally left for home 4 hours later, signed a tab, paga manana, and crashed!
A great night out, total bill, around 750 pesos ($12) plus smokes and propinas. Bonus - 2 potential new Dulce Secreta dates.
Today, my moto guy tells me the ATM at Super Pola (now changed to La Serena, tho' they only sell groceries) has been re-filled, so I'll walk up and get my pesos replenished, and pay my tabs.
My problem is whether I'll be able to pay my tabs without bumping into old pals.
Looks like I'll be "stuck" in Sosua for a while! LOL.
