I would agree to that with the caveat of the old guy not having to give them money. If money is required for the old guy to bring them the multiple O's, then it is safe to say they are not actually there for the O's. Something tells me they will take the money without the O's, but not take the O's without the money.

Fair Point. I have only been able to dream while caring for a loved one. My wife just passed and I am exploring destinations hoping some fun can offset gloom. I think it's down to Medelland, Brazil, and Thailand. I am going but struggling to decide which to do first.

Forget South America, Asia is where it's at. For what you're looking for, I'd suggest Thailand, although my personal favorite SE Asia mongering destination is Indonesia. I'm 64 and widowed as well with more than 20 years experience working and living in Asia.

Planning a trip to Thailand to do a week of scuba diving and have some fun. What I hear is Pattaya has the fun but the Scuba is so-so and Phuket has the Scuba but the ladies are So-So. I am learning towards Phuket. Anyone have any advice for practical experience?

It is a tradeoff. Pat has a better & much larger girly scene than Phuket. If you are a monger and you have never been to Pat: GO! The 1st time you walk down Walking Street at around 9 pm, it will blow your mind, and keep in mind that Walking Street is only the tip of the iceberg as far as the Pat entertainment scene goes, but the beach sucks, the water is polluted. On the other hand, Phuket HAS beautiful beaches (clean clear water), a few worthwhile scuba sites, AND the nightlife scene is adequate which means you can have a good time here, but it is not in the same league with BKK or Pat. Therefore, my suggestion, if you have enough time, is visit both destinations.

*Remember to wait 24 hours before flying after your last scuba dive.
