I was in Pattaya 20+ years ago. It was pretty much the same then, except for Soi 6. And there were less Indians.

Some areas were more popular then than now (Soi 7), and Soi Buakhow didn't exist as a hot spot. There was a Lolita's BJ bar in Soi Metro, and that was it.

I do remember the old-timers back then complaining that Pattaya was better 20 years earlier. You can see posts here from 20 years ago saying the same thing.

Living in Pattaya is very different from a visit of 2 weeks.

Probably the biggest mistake residents make is hooking up with a "girlfriend". Given the nature of Pattaya, to tie yourself down with a single lady defeats the purpose of being in Pattaya. The problem is that some guys come to Pattaya to find a "girlfriend" because they can't get one back home.

My life is great here in Pattaya, Thailand It could be because I am a newbie. Just off the plane and enjoying every bit of my life here. You see despite others efforts to educate me on what Pattaya used to be. I am enjoying what Pattaya is now.

By having having boots on the ground for months on end I get to do what visitors (those who don't need to renew their visitors visa why they are here) can NEVER experience.
