Jakarta blowing up as a mongering destination and the concerns about BB / expectations are two different issues.

I did not come to Jakarta to monger but did end up here for a big chunk of time for other reasons. I have also spent time in Bangkok. I admit I have never been to the Philippines or Colombia. That said Jakarta is a great place to live and a shitty place to visit. If you want to make friends, get into the fascinating rich culture long term and even start a family this is a great place with truly lovely caring people. But as a tourist destination it's pretty awful. Ironically I think Jakarta would have to offer more than just mongering for it to be a mongering destination with plane tickets between 1800 - 3500 usd depending on which western country you are coming from. Thailand has semi officially built a big component of it economy around being a mongering destination, the Philippines used to be home to the America's largest naval base. Jakarta will forever be the stinky polluted fucked up layover city to Bali. Bali is where the the serious pros go who think of it as serious business. I can vouch for prices there and service expectation being way out of alignment compared to Jakarta. Also, its not that difficult to get BB in Bangkok. Although I think there are some readers on this forum from Asian countries I think most of them get their info from about Jakarta from other places. A lot of them are on a whole different system. Many Asian mongers are in Jakarta for "golf" and have a whole mongering MO centered around that which never comes up on this particular forum. There are tons of golf clubs around Jakarta just for them with sexy female caddies in tight pants. They often go to the same clubs we do afterwards. A very balanced sum up! The old days of Tiaria Ceria were unique and never come back. The big brothel towns closed down all over the country. But the remaining events are still excellent for the few bule to come and enjoy as long as they blend in.

I mentioned much better and larger in my post. The example cited focused on the larger. Let me give an example of the much better.

In early 2008, I was here for about 3 months and I saw the scene change dramatically overnight. Two examples. While Travel, since as long as I can remember, has always handed out condoms in the mini blue envelope, they were rarely used. BB was default. The KI places didn't even hand out condoms like they do now. It was up to the lady to have them and they rarely did unless the customer brought it and decided to use it. BB was again the service default.

Then sometime in early 2008, there was an HIV scare that went around. I believe it started with a lady working in Travel. Rumor was that it was a foreigner that infected her. Or at least they were blamed. Regardless, overnight the scene dramatically changed. Ladies there would not even look at a bule. I left around mid 2008 frustrated and a good buddy of mine went later in the year. He and I still reminisce about that time and how all the ladies hid and wouldn't even look at him when he entered. He ended his trip early and went to Bangkok.

It took about 9-12 months for the scene to somewhat normalise to what we see posted about now. I remember trips in 2009 being somewhat better. But it was a stark change from what I remember pre 2008. What was default service previously can now still be had, but it requires vibe, game, tips or is not available at all depending on who you talk to or where you go. KI, which didn't even hand out condoms started including them with the room around that time. It is now universally expected that condoms are used in every venue and official policy.

While I do agree the closing of venues like Stadium were probably not due to the sex tourists. Checked out 3 places, emporium, classic and 1001 pool.

Classic: Was really disappointed in this one because of how hyped it is. I spent all night in T2 checking the place out and did not find any ladies pretty enough to room with. I am by far a quality over quantity guy and because how cheap Jakarta is for this hobby, even the quality options would be considered the budget options in other countries. It was also way too smoky and the mamasans are way too aggressive, giving you little freedom of movement and choice until you put your foot down.

Emporium: Half the price of 1001 pool as you get both the pool experience and bedroom experience for a single price. However the choices of ladies left much to be desired. I came in with only a dozen ladies available for selection and none of them were worth taking. I left disappointed.

1001 Pool: The only place worth going to, out of the 3. There was a large selection of ladies, maybe 50 or more with an additional selection of 20 or so VIP foreign beauties. My opinion is that the foreign girls are not worth taking at all, they are all older (mid 30's) and you can easily find better options in said countries of origin. They are mainly koreans, central asians and russians. The local selection is the best I've encountered in Jakarta so far, easily counting 4-5 girls that I actually like on each of the 2 days I visited. And I am picky.

Day 1 girl I spent only on the 1 HR room option and while she was spunky and fun, she did not like DATY nor being touched downstairs so it reduced the experience for me significantly as I enjoy pleasing. Here are my quick two cents on the current topic de jour. Take the advice, ignore it, ridicule me. Do with it what you will.

I think OS's point is a pattern many of us who have been around a while and seen about how a destination goes from being "awesome" to "being shit" and "not like it used to be. ".

You see many laments on places like Thailand, Philippines, Colombia, etc that it is not like it used to be as it is overrun with people paying outrageous tips or how the ladies attitudes and service levels have changed.

Indonesia is one of the last places on Earth that hasn't been overrun and gone to shit.

But the activity in here has certainly increased significantly over the past year or so and there is one topic that keeps coming up. This attracts a certain attention to a destination that is almost never good for its viability long term as an "awesome" destination.

I would just submit one quick point to those that continue to advertise BB as vociferously as they do. Just because something is a certain way today and is "awesome," doesn't mean it will stay that way forever. I think some of you are essentially posting against your own interests and what you like the most. In their attempt to spite others for the gentle admonishment, they are actually spiting their own long term self interests.

Ah well. It is what it is. I fully expect this post to not hit the way it was intended and to possibly be met with more spite. I can't control that.

But the younger posters here will eventually be older. Their appearance, game and financial situation may change. Life, health and appearance may affect their ability to get what they want. What about the huge resort complex at Ancol?

I've already been there with my girlfriend to Dunia Fantasia (Indonesia's Six Flags) and just this last Sunday we went to the water park called Atlantis. I had an absolute blast riding all the waterslides, my favorite was the skybox waterslide where the floor drops out from under you and you free fall into the waterslide tube. We were literally there all day until it closed.

Next we are going back there to check out the SeaWorld Aquarium.

1. way different from other South East nations like Philly and Thai, it's a Paradise, thank god.

2. Fraction of girls better than those of boys which is a sight in itself (for me atleast).

3. They are open minded liberal, easy to talk to. Most girls have no attitude, this makes them a possible pick up target.

4. As a city not much to do, even neighboring burrows not interesting, dirty populated smoky and less developed. Walking is tough.

5. As you go southwards things get better cleaner and more posh.

6. Smaller bars are really noteworthy, music is good.

7. Classic Travel 1001 emporium Kota inda kelpa gading CJs Bats and many more are some of the most interesting options.

8. Spa's are doable.

9. Fewer scams & LB's make it more attractive.

10. Great scope in online talent.

11. Poor connectivity, hope it stays this way.

12. Food is delicious, some street restaurants are to die for.
