A couple of times ago on my visit to Bangkok I took a taxi from the airport to nana, the driver was the most miserable sod so kind of put me off, so my previous visit I took the train to the last stop- phayah tai, but I didn't see any taxis so got the skytrain to nana but I was red hot when I got to the hotel.

Assuming I haven't got a sim for my phone after leaving the airport airport, I read somewhere that I should get the train to makkasin and then get a taxi from there. Can anyone confirm this is a better place to catch a taxi? Is there a 'cab rank' type of thing there?

I can't remember seeing a cab rank there, but taxis pass by all the time, so just stand by the road and I can't imagine it will take more than a minute or two before a taxi will pick you up. Certainly has never taken more when I've had to take a taxi from there.

Makkasan is indeed a better place to depart at if you're going to Nana.

As for saving money on my condo, I have held it long enough that its cheaper per day than a hotel, and every year going forward moreso. But the condo is a lot more convenient than a hotel.
