Posts: 1959A whole Chapter on Cognitive Dissonance for Dummies!
Yeah, no worries...as there's sure to be a chapter and huge case study on cognitive dissonance, detailing how dumbass freak-a-zoid insensitive people that don't understand how their psyche can be in such turmoil, from their own mental discomfort, regarding their conflicting beliefs, when their words do not add-up or:

Yeah, sure The Cane, has a lot of great things to say. You should listen!

Posts: 878Besides the fact it is sad and wrong what happened to him. Kirk was a very special talent. There are so few people who have the ability to bring right wing views to the younger generations.

Posts: 7971As usual, you are wrong about that too.
An ordinary consensus of generally accepted polls has been correct on its prediction going into every presidential election as far back as polling has been done, even the consensus of polls chosen by the demonstrably Winger-leaning RealClearPolitics site.

On Lichtman's prediction; considering the razor-thin squeaker win by the swing of 0. 75 of a single percentage point across the only three swing states that mattered and due solely to a less than 114,900 swing of votes in those states by angry Muslims on a single issue over which only Netanyahu had control, Lichtman was closer to predicting the result than anyone since the result happened claiming it was a "landslide' and a "mandate" to do anything other than for Trump and his billionaire donors to send a big Thank You card to each and every one of those 114,900 angry Muslims in PA, MI and WI.

There is a strong sense by these voters that there is only enough wealth to go around for a small segment of society, therefore someone else's life has to be destroyed for them to move ahead. This explains why people on the far right blame other social groups for their own lack of opportunity, and is the fundamental drive for racism, xenophobia and pure hatred, especially among those at the lowest incomes.
Rather than recognize that they are part of a dysfunctional economic system where poverty does not discriminate, they are desperate to blame specific social groups for their misfortune. Their hatred is especially vicious towards social groups who seem to be gaining visibility. Fascists and Republicans don't fundamentally hate trans people. They hate that another social group that was formerly invisible is now being added to the mix, which increases competition for resources. The biggest thing that can make fascists go crazy is seeing another social group thrive, as the Jews did in Hitler's Germany. This is pure hate.
This is why in the US elections, Republican voters supported Trump not so that he can make all of America great again, but so that he can make all white people great again. If only they had understood that his goal was even more narrow: to make all tech oligarchs richer than 99.9% of America. People on the far right fail to realize that the struggle is not between citizens and immigrants or heterosexuals and trans. It is between the poor and the ultra-rich.
The problem with far-right voters is that they feel they can only get ahead in life if someone else is fucked over. This is not surprising in the US, where this is actually, word-for-word the mantra of capitalism: my profit is your loss. This entire system breeds fascism.
For whatever reason, his reply did not come up in my post. Again, I was referring to racial and gender groups not being equal, not equal compensation for all occupations. And again, it is weird you came to that conclusion.

Posts: 878Cane, you were the one who posted you were all sorry to see I didn't want to go back and forth with you and I was willing to leave it at that. Now your losing your cool and accusing me of personal attacks and lies. I break stones a bit just like you did. I did not tell one lie though. I believe everything I wrote was 100% in good faith.

Anyway. You also stated ring wing has to see others be "destroyed" for others to succeed. I was assuming you meant businesses out competing other businesses in a free market economy. A free market economy is a right wing economic system. It is not a stretch to assume based off your bashing the "right" as being full of hated and supporting a flawed economic system that you would also support socialism. I was wrong to assume you support socialism and I take it back. Have a field day with that Cane.
This is not knock on you, but no, I don't really care to get to know your politics or you as I have read your posts and I strongly disagree with you on many things. Not an attack, your just not my type of guy. I strongly believe in the things I have posted and I don't take great pleasure in putting people down, except Spidy because he made it very personal. Like I said, I'll back off your posts if you are really bent out of shape over my responses.

Posts: 878I am referring to race and gender groups. I was originally referring back to the post by Cane. You are referring to occupations. Two completely different things. Why would you think I am trying to argue a doctor should earn the same as a drug addict. That goes against every thing I was arguing in my post where I state people should be judged by their ability and also what they contribute. A doctor contributes a great deal to society so he should be compensated as such. A drug addict does not, so he should receive bare minimum. Weird I have to state that.

In a perfect world, of course we don't live in one, there would be no difference in success and earnings among racial groups in USA. Of course we are all born with different abilities and advantages and thus some racial groups out earn others. Some of that is due to the history of slavery and racism in the country. Look up "segregation" in the south. Laws designed to oppress African Americans. I take it your not American because that is taught in American public middle schools.

I didn't say shit about being a proponent of socialism or communism. Capitalism is full of problems, but it's still the best system in my view. We just need to be aware of the worst excesses of capitalism and be ready to counteract those. Please read what I wrote without placing thoughts and beliefs upon me that I don't hold and did not say. Not one time did I say communism or socialism are the better systems. I said that capitalism is fucked up. Which isn't the same thing as saying socialism or communism are better. But still, with all its faults, capitalism is the way. I am capable of complex and sophisticated thinking, believe it or not.

Meanwhile, before we talk about linear television, consider that Arizona officials estimate the live audience in all venues was in excess of 200 thousand attendees.
And the Turning Point site stated, "Our production and streaming partners tracked over 100 million overall streams for today's tribute to Charlie".
End of link.

Posts: 4832LOL. Does this polling bullshit make you feel better Loony Tooms? Yes, by all means, let's go back to polls since they were so right in 2016,2020, and 2024.

Uh, you saw that Trump and Musk kissed and made up right? What happened to those President Musk lines? Oh, you mean you were just lying your asses off again? Gee, that is a shocker! Well, maybe you can revive those memes now. That repaired schism means nothing because you have a poll saying exactly what you want.
But wait, wasn't there another one? Oh yeah, there was Allan Lichtman. He was a Democratic douche favorite. He was never wrong about election predictions. And he had the ultimate Democratic douche pedigree. "Professor Lichtman received his PhD from Harvard University in 1973" My God, a professor? Harvard? Never wrong in the past? Why that is just as good as "the science" on Covid. Hell, I am not even sure we need an election. We could have just listened to him. What did he say again?
https://www.american.edu/cas/news/ha...p-lichtman.cfm
"The Democrats will hold on to the White House, and Kamala Harris will be the next president of the United States," Lichtman told The New York Times today in a video.
Lichtman's prediction is based on 13 Keys, a model he developed with Russian geophysicist Vladimir Keilis-Borok in 1981. The 13 Keys ignore all polls and pollsters. They focus on 13 true-false statements. If six or more of the keys are false, the incumbent party is predicted to lose the election. If five or fewer are false, the incumbent is expected to win.
The keys include whether:
The White House party gained House seats during the midterm elections.
The sitting president is running for re-election.
The White House party is avoiding a primary contest.
There is a third-party challenger.
The short-term economy is strong.
The long-term economy growth has been as good as the last two terms.
The White House party has made major changes to national policy.
There is sustained social unrest during the term.
The White House is untainted by scandal, the incumbent party is charismatic.
The challenger is uncharismatic.
The incumbent is charismatic.
The White House party has major failure in foreign policy.
The White House party has foreign policy success.
Lichtman found that eight of the keys are true (in Harris' favor), while three are false, favoring Trump.
"The Democrats will hold on to the White House, and Kamala Harris will be the next president of the United States," Lichtman told The New York Times today in a video.
End of link.
A geophysicist? The NYT?
I am sorry Loony Tooms. Given all these things, Harvard, a professor, the NYT, perfect prediction record, and a Russian geophysicist, I just assumed Harris won. Can you remind me who won the 2024 election?
And can you tell me why none of the 13 keys involved Muslims? I must have missed your posts prior to the election predicting how the Muslims would throw the election one way or the other.

People who see things clearly don't have to tell others how they see themselves. Or "define" themselves LOL. I don't even think about that shit honestly.

Posts: 1468Cane, you have it all backwards. A free society / free market offers the most people the most opportunities to increase their personal wealth and well-being, but you have to work for it, or you don't get anywhere. Socialism and Communism make the biggest promises, but it always leads to the least opportunities and well-being which is why these forms of government always end up as dictatorships with gulags, starvation, and mass murder.
I know that in all likelihood you are not going to listen to what I am saying, but you really should try to open your mind a little and perhaps read some Milton Freidman or even easier, take a look at his amazing PBS series from the 80's, "Free to Choose" and especially the debates at the end of every show. It is fascinating stuff.

Posts: 8335Socialism verseus Capitalism
Who said anything about promoting socialism? I certainly didn't. I happen to be of the following opinion. Capitalism is the absolute worst possible economic system there is. Except for every other system! You guys don't know me! You don't know me, and you don't understand my politics. Because you're not even interested in trying to. You're only interested in constant lies, put downs, and personal attacks. Because sadly, that's what makes you feel good about yourselves. That you got the last word. Well go ahead on! GTFOH!
