Posts: 514Mad! I wonder are tourist numbers still way down and the Agents are trying to shift stock for cashflow. It's regarded as 'High season' now isn't it? I left in October but a few girls were telling me visitor numbers in BKK in particular had been way down for most of 2025.

I do not understand it: If I book online, where they are paying fees to the agency (booking, Agoda, etc.) is about 20-25% cheaper than direct at the front desk where they get cash. Many times when I extended my stay I rather did it on line, after asking, because was cheaper. Same thing goes on in the Philippines also.
I don't think is the same as airfare where the agencies consolidate the prices by buying in bulk. It must be one of the great unsolved mysteries of SEA.
Few days ago I extended my stay in Chumphon in a cheap uninhabited hotel, cash was 600/ day and online I paid total 700 for 2 days, almost double the online rate.

Posts: 6804For those looking around Silom Patpong, I recently stayed at a new Japanese hotel, Nishitetsu Croom. Basically brand new rooms. Has a parking lot so easy for Grab pickup. Literally right beside Thaniya Road. Donki a block away. Dusit Central Park mall a 5 minute walk on the sky bridge.
Would definitely recommend it but it's not for those on a budget.
Night hotel is always a solid choice. Fantastic staff. Clean rooms. Near Thermae. Cheaper than Sofitel and S15. As mentioned, Night Hotels rates seem to vary greatly.

Posts: 2202Huge difference based on how long in advance your reservation is made. The prices go up and down. With Night, I've always used Agoda or Expedia or Hotels or Booking, etc. For me, calling Night direct has always resulted in the highest price offered, I found the same thing when I used to use Radisson on Soi 13. For some other hotels it is cheaper to call direct. Sometimes Agoda has best deal, sometimes Expedia, etc. I tend to buy refundable reservations many months in advance and then keep an eye on current offers; it's not uncommon for me to cancel and rebook at lower cost as my trip gets closer. I suppose this concept works with all hotels, not just Night. For this concept of cancelling and rebooking, I've found Agoda website to be the easiest.

Posts: 7970Citrus Suites on Soi 6 is much closer
Citrus Suites on Soi 6 is already next door to a few beer and girlie bars on Soi 6 as it connects with Soi 4. That hotel is maybe a 5 minute walk to the same Fitzgeralds Irish Pub the previously discussed snicket led to on Soi 4 from Soi 2.

But for whatever reason it would not post at that time. I will try again now. If it doesn't post I will just say the sign states that tall gate is closed and locked at 8 pm every night until 6 am. I believe the only reason it remains open during the day is to allow access to the brainwake cafe located just inside that gate, which is open from 7 am to 7 pm every day.
Too bad, too. That little snicket had been. A convenient short cut from that portion of Soi 4 to the McDonalds, Starbucks, Villa Market and other hotels on Soi 2 day and night for a long time. Now it is only accessible between 6 am and 8 pm.
Yes, I see in the Preview Report option that pic of the sign is not posting. Weird.

Very interesting followup. Kudos to Khun Tooms for reporting on the latest ground truth.

Has anyone stayed at this hotel on soi 7/1? Price looks right at $42 per night.

Posts: 2659As others have already said, $50/ night will get you a shit hole. The Dynasty Inn on Soi 4 is smack in the middle of the action, and a decent hotel. Rooms are around $60/ night at Booking.com at the moment. Ask for a room at the back side, because the front side is very noisy.

I agree with Fargler, If you go with a sub $ 50 USD place it will be a shit hole. Spend a bit more, not a lot more and it will make a big difference. Try an old classic at Nana hotel it is usually about $ 60 USD and has good facilities and a decent pool. It is very convenient to all the action. Directly across from Nana plaza, close to the train station at Nana, easy train ride to all the Soi 24 massage places and not far from Thermae.

Posts: 7213Boss Suite and Woraburi South end of Soi 4
Both are in a quiet alley at Soi 4's South end near the big park. Boss Suite is supposed to be 4 -star, about $40 including breakfast. WoraBuri is 3-star, about $30, free breakfast.
Both have large lobbies and pools, convenient to walk to Nana Plaza. Rooms are large, nice, clean, comfortable enough.
A few 5-star hotels on Soi 4 are small with small rooms and no lobbies or services, feeling restrictive.

Check booking, com and you will see that $50 per day is tough to achieve right now. Most hotels at western standards are higher than that. You can do better with AirBNB but it takes a 30 day stay.

Good luck.

I will be visiting very soon within the week. Can you guys recommend a nice midrange hotel that wouldn't give problems? Would an Airbnb be good as well? I want to be close to the train. Most of what I will do is probably spas and massage parlors. I rather not spend $50 USD+ per night but something affordable but nice. Thanks.
