Heading to Japan next week, will throw some yen around.

Dollar to Yen is hitting 160 lately. I remember visiting many times when it was only 110. I hope you set aside some time to enjoy the food and sights too, it is generally good and cheap. Apart from Japanese food obviously, Japan does Italian and French food very well. Japan takes food very seriously. If you prefer a la carte to go, instead of the convenience store stop by the basement level of any large department store. It is full of food togo of all kinds, it's amazing the choice.

If you use ATM, look for an international ATM which takes foreign bank cards. Last time I went, Japan switched over their currency to new bills so every ATM had to be replaced. So 711 ATMs no longer took international cards, but Famima ATMs generally did. I remember you should choose the Yen option (not dollar) for the best rate. For cash advanced on credit card, know your cc's PIN and choose 'credit' option. Make sure to pay off your balance when you can, if you do within a week or two the interest is almost nothing but it adds up if you don't pay it off (make sure to clear your whole CC balance to stop the interest - cash advance follows different rules than regular cc charges). Credit cards generally work in Japan at most hotels, shopping, dining. But not all. You can use CC at adult shops, but I'd avoid it since many charge an additional 10% since their shops are flagged as high risk so they are passing that cost through the fee. But, it's a decent backup for last resort. It got me lunch with a top JAV star.

Last trip I did a "pre-date" with a girl before visiting her shop, and we picked up some food togo before going to her shop. I was worried if we were allowed to bring food into her shop, but she said it's cool so we ate it there. The sponsored date concept is something getting common at some light service (non-fs) shops. Such as girls' bars. She looked like jgirl Evian so I basically had no choice.

I know some guys only want fs, but for those who have more time and want a variety of experiences Japan offers delivery massage including sexy massage, college girl strip shows (ex. Shibuya Galaxy, Nukunuku club), oppai pubs, and some truly weird stuff. On my checklist is to see a burlesque show like 63Angels in Roppongi, will review if it happens.

On the high end of soap, there is Etoile and the key is to book directly with the girl. Some girls have a shop LINE account, and if you scan her diary you can find it. You can book her directly, and some popular girls you should book weeks ahead. My friend visited Hinata and recommended her. For the cheap and good value low end, I've repeated Kira Kira in Yokohama (formerly Mermaid, which on google maps sometimes still shows the old shop). A search of these shops in Tokyo will bring up reviews and instructions.

I know some people obsessed with JAV girls and high end delivery, and they used Elise and Ask and swear by it. It's not my thing but they are legit although expensive. Elise girls will bang without tip, at the high end it's usually all-inclusive. There is also THC but almost all the reports here say the girls charge high tips and GPS is common. But, some people did have a good time at least. Tora no Ana is another option, but their JAV girls are charging unusually high rates. Gingira has a more thorough screening and rules, but if you are checked into a hotel that acts as your screening. All the fs shops in Shibuya are like that since it is a tourist area. Whereas a strip show like Shibuya Galaxy will have signs outside and English signs saying you're welcome to come in. Personally, if I had a 6. 5 hour Haneda layover during the day, I would go for it. The biggest unknowable variable is how long immigration / customs would take. If it ends up taking longer than is workable, you can always just scrap the soapland trip and get some sushi / ramen and chalk it up to bad luck. But the soaps of Kawasaki are under 30 minutes from Haneda by train, less if you spring for a taxi. KiraKira in Yokohama is under 40 minutes. If you get through customs quickly and race over, you can then figure out how long of a session you can have.

The other layover scenario you mentioned -- 12.5 hour overnight -- wouldn't work for a soapland but would easily work for a delivery health in Tokyo or Yokohama. Heck, you would have enough time to go into Shinjuku and check into a cheap APA hotel near Kabukicho, hit up an oppai pub to get warmed up, and then get a delivery health girl, and you could squeeze in one or two late night / overnight meals while you're at it. There would even be enough time to grab a few hours of sleep before you have to head back to Haneda. I hope you go for it and then report back on how it went.

Thanks for replies and comments. I am grateful for both. Well I got two replies with pretty much contradictory opinions / advice. Such is life I suppose. Of course, I am concerned about the timeline which is why I posed the question to begin with. I think under normal circumstance I would give it a try and if it looked like time was running short I would pull the plug and find the quickest way back to Haneda. But these are not normal times. As I plan my personal perversions the world keeps spinning on its axis. And arguably it is spinning out of control (and I will refrain from further comment as it may veer off into politics). And the attractive air fare that potentially put me in Japan with some time to kill is no longer available. So the whole idea is going on the back burner for now. But what I take away from my research is that eventually I have to figure out a way to get to Japan and sample the nightlife. There are just so many temptations. Japan was not on my radar screen before but it is on the bucket list now.

As an aside I spent twenty years working in the US for a Japanese company (the name would be instantly recognizable). I am retired now. As a very large company there were many divisions. Where I worked there were always Japanese expats around but on a day to day basis the business was run by the American management team. As such I dealt primarily with US personnel. My interface with Japanese expats (95% male not too many women) was rather limited. But I knew enough that it was pretty much a truism that most expats really liked living in US and wanted to stay as long as they could. I did not give it much thought back then but while those guys were in US they were missing out on the sexcapades available back home. I think if it were me I would have wanted to get back home ASAP.

When I was initially hired I assumed I would probably have the opportunity to travel to Japan on business at some point but it never happened. But many of my executive team would travel to Japan on regular basis. I wonder now what they were really up to. I eventually did visit Tokyo as a tourist a few years ago travelling with the wife. As I was with the wife I was not planning to check out the P4 P scene and had not done any research on the possibilities. We actually did walk through Shinjuku area. It was midday and it seemed rather dead to me.

As I look back on all this now I regret not trying more to cultivate some relationships with the expats. It sure would be helpful to have a Japanese friend or two to guide me through the variety of possibilities for entertainment in Japan when I eventually get there (I hope).

I would recommend getting on the train and going to Yoshiwara which is the soapland area. Depending on your budget I like Casanova (55000 yen) and Kings Room (105000). Casanova is good, Kings Room is great.

Haneda is only 30 minutes from Kawasaki. Depending on what time you land, it would be very easy to go to Kawasaki and fuck a girl in a soapland, then get back on your plane. I am currently planning a trip to Kuala Lumpur later this year (not for mongering purposes) departing from US east coast. I have not made any travel arrangements yet just searching air fares at this point. I am trying to avoid transiting through Middle East for obvious reasons. So the alternative route is through one of the major Asian air hubs. One cost effective itinerary I found involved rather long layovers at Haneda airport in Tokyo 6. 5 hours westbound and 12.5 hours on return. Whenever I find myself with long layovers like this I immediately think about how to spend the time and can I squeeze in a little entertainment. This brings me to the Japan forum to check out the possibilities.

So after reading through the forum here some and checking out quite a few of the (many, many) websites describing the Japan nightlife scene I now have my heart set on hitting up a Japan soapland. This was not exactly on my bucket list before but it is now. Unfortunately the long 12 hour layover is from 10 PM to 10 AM and this is when all the soaplands are closed. So this leaves me with the possibility of hitting up a soapland in a 6. 5 layover between 5 PM and 11:30 PM. It might be a tight timeline but I think it could be accomplished. But I wanted to get some thoughts from those more familiar with the logistics and travel in Tokyo to see if this is doable or just not a realistic plan..
