Posts: 3443I hear, but you might know better than me prior to Covid, they say the Hilton was pretty good, especially Fri Seafood day. Not sure of the cost but years back, group of guys from Softball use to visit regularly. Also recently guys at Iris Rover mentioned the Holiday Inn great buffet.

Posts: 1269Yes, racism is messed up. That said, it's almost never about the "3 Indians 1 beer problem", and not about deodorant or trousers either. It comes down to how a certain demographics of long-standing customers is unhappy with your presence.

They want to exclude you, and the bars are obliging in order to keep them as customers. It's similar to how certain venues (like Soi Thaniya in Bangkok) are Japanese only. Japanese punters don't like the barbarian Farang messing with "their" girls and spaces.
The main difference is that Japanese (and East Asians in general) are comfortable with open racism. Farang are not, so they come up with various thinly veiled excuses like trousers or clean shoes, and would certainly probably welcome you if you said you were from the UK to maintain the pretense.
Personally, I'd go to places that accept me (fortunately there are plenty), and not even try to give money to those who act disrespectful towards my group, even if they made an exception and allowed me to be their customer.

Posts: 2662The Altera Hotel has a nice buffet. I believe they are charging 200 baht, if you're not staying there.

Posts: 63The scourge of Walking Street has officialy made its way to Soi Chaiyapoon
Denied entry at Aftermath Bar. I am 32 M, Indian, lone monger, well groomed, clean shoes, trousers, shirt, perfume, yada yada.
I walk up to a lady sitting outside, smile and point her to inside the bar. She and I walk up to the guard at the doorstep.
Guard: "Where you from?"
Me, knowing full well where this is going but in no mood to lie: "India."
Guard: "No."
Me: "No?"
Guard: "No."
Girl, as I leave: "Sorryyy."
Repeating what I said long ago, prohibiting a specific race is quite fucked up. The often cited "3 Indians sipping one beer for two hours" is easily solved by an entry fee per person that can be adjusted against actuals.
You heard it right. Between a bloody coupon system and racism, the coupon system achieves the same / better outcome. And yet racism is the popular choice!
Side note, my overall Pattaya experience has been nice. The specific incidents I talk about on this forum construe a very unfair and negative picture of Pattaya. Maybe I will write a full report soon.

Posts: 63There is no sure shot way to avoid running into ladyboys in Pattaya even if you skip these sois. Instead, you end up missing out on the many regular girly bars there.

Yeah, I tipped the staff right after. The ladyboy I barfined did not seem aggressive by any means but I do not even want to think about what could have happened in the room.

Hello everyone,
Off topic.
I'm planning to go to Pattaya in late September. Last time I was there I stayed close to Walking Street but this time I am planning to stay close to Soi 6.
I found a great buffet in Beach Road but I'the like to know if there are any buffet / americab breakfast places near Soi 6.
Thank you.

1000 BHT is too little to fight for and treat this as a bad experience and a life saving one. I had a similar scene in another country once, LB got really aggressive and I ended up with a torn shirt in the hotel lobby, it was a routine act for other hotel guests. I gave a nice tip and a positive review online to the male receptionist who helped me and saved me from her clutches. This could have flared and gotten very ugly in the room. So just have a drink forget it and move on, consider yourself lucky!

Posts: 11361) Tip the hotel staff who saved you from what could have become a much worse experience in the room, with an aggressive dude swinging a dick bigger than yours in your room. It's not the staffs job to do that, and most would probably not care.

Be prepared, ask politely, and do not lose your temper or start arguing. Exit once you see you are not getting anywhere, rather than make a scene and get clubbed over the head with a bottle from behind. Remain calm at all times. Easier if you go in with the expectations of not getting anything back, and are just on your way to another bar to barfine a real girl.

Posts: 1739Advice / my point of view: Was she a post-op? From your story alone you had no idea. LB usually don't lie about themselves. However, a post-op may no longer consider her to be a lb. So she answers 'no'. From the bar or other perspective: some punters may prefer lb as their choice at particular time and don't want to find a lady is a post-op. Consider the money spent as a small token. You can't get the bar fine back.

Posts: 18757They are not settling. 1000 baht is still a lot of money. Just because foreigners come in throwing around money, does not mean the Thais see it as a little money. It is the same as my apartment was 4500 baht 17 years ago and my taxi to the airport was 1000 baht 17 years ago, the same as they are today. If people do not know how or do not want to negotiate is a different story. But that is also the price in the BJ bars and gentlemen's clubs. And I have never had a problem negotiating this in the massage shops.

You didn't get scammed at all. That's the price of a private dance. FFS. You actually thought a Russian stripper would short time you for 1,500 baht. Hahahah.

Anyway, you won't get your money back. You're already lucky they didn't put a foot in your room.
It's better to get over it and write a review everywhere on the internet, that might damage the reputation of these treacherous bastards employing lbs without making it clear for every customers.
Soi 7, soi 8, soi Honey, soi Chayaphum are full of lbs, anybody who's not comfortable with these kind of places should avoid these sois completely.

I know that Pattaya is cheaper to live in than Phuket but, are the women really only settling for 1000 bhat? If that was the case, that was the rate 20 years ago and when I was in Phuket the cheapest price quote I got was 2500 bhat.
